I love you, my angel,
More than life itself.
My home is in your heart,
Now and forever.
For you, my soul is singing
For you, my heart is beating.

Thranduil stepped into the chambers he shared with his hervenn. Lindir had discarded his robes because of the heat, and wore now only Thranduil’s undershirt that partially covered his thighs. His long legs were bare and his silvery hair flew freely on his shoulders and back. Thranduil thought silently that there was no more beautiful sight on all Arda than his beloved Lindir. He had sensed Lindir’s melancholy through their bond and had immediately discarded his work.

Lindir’s frame of mind had to came first, especially now when he was pregnant. Thranduil had kept an eye on his mate since Legolas left on the hunting trip. He was worried because Lindir had seemed more tired lately. Thranduil himself was sad for Legolas, but he had to be strong. It was his task to support his mate and son when they needed him most.

Lindir was so deep in thoughts that he didn’t hear Thranduil coming. He gasped and started when he was suddenly pulled up and into a strong embrace.

“You are so beautiful like that, Lindir nín. My shirt looks much better on you than on me,” Thranduil chuckled, cradling his mate in his arms.

Lindir blushed. He had dressed in Thranduil’s shirt in attempt to ease his longing for his mate. He knew that Thranduil’s schedule was tight, and he didn’t have time to always be with him. The familiar scent had given him a little bit comfort, even if it couldn’t take away his yearning completely.

“Why you are here, meleth? I thought that you still had work to do,” he asked, relaxing against his mate. Thranduil’s closeness always succeeded in easing his worries.

“They can wait. You are much more important, and you needed me,” Thranduil whispered, leaning to kiss Lindir.

“I’m sorry, meleth. I didn’t want to cause you worry.” Lindir tried to hide his melancholy but failed miserably. He closed his eyes and rested his head on Thranduil’s shoulder, feeling completely exhausted.

“You have no reason to apologize, Lindir nín. What kind of mate would I be if I am not there for you when you need me most? I love you more than life itself.”

Lindir’s tears finally broke out. His heart was full; full of love for Thranduil and their son, full of grief because of Legolas’ broken heart, and the love that never had chance even to begin. Thranduil held him close, feeling tears in his own eyes too. He could understand Lindir’s distress for their son; he himself did wanted nothing but happiness for Legolas!

Thranduil carried his mate to the bedroom and after undressing them both, lifted him on the bed. If he couldn’t do anything else, he could show how much Lindir meant to him.

When Lindir’s tears finally ceased, he snuggled even closer to his mate.

“I love you, Thranduil nín. Saes, make love to me,” he whispered, caressing Thranduil’s chest. He needed his mate now; he needed to feel him as close as possible.

Thranduil knew better than to decline, even if he could see that Lindir was exhausted. He had learned long time ago that during his pregnancies his mate was extremely sensitive what it came to their love life. Lindir had had enough distress for the one day; Thranduil knew that now he needed to feel loved. He held Lindir in a possessive embrace and began to kiss him, pouring all love he felt into the kiss. Lindir began to shake in his arms, but Thranduil didn’t let him go. Gently, he turned Lindir on his back so that he had better access to his body and found no resistance. For a moment Thranduil could only stare at his mate; his exquisite beauty. Lindir’s body had stirred by his touches and his beautiful, blue eyes shimmered with tears but even under them he could see boundless love.

“Oh meleth! What I have done to deserve you? You are so beautiful,” Thranduil finally whispered, his body suddenly aflame. He lowered his head, wanting nothing more than to taste his mate everywhere he possibly could.

Lindir cried out when he felt hot lips on his hardened nipple, tasting, teasing him mercilessly. He lost all awareness of the world beyond the bed on which they rested. The only thing that mattered was Thranduil, his beloved hervenn, loving him, driving him towards the purest bliss. Shamelessly, Lindir opened up to his mate, heat and passion surging through him with rapidly growing force.

“Saes, Thranduil! I want you in me, now,” he panted, arching helplessly. He felt himself so empty, so lost without his meleth.

“As you wish, meleth nin,” Thranduil whispered. This was not the time for teasing or passionate games. He wanted to grant Lindir’s every wish, to make slow, languorous love to him so that there would be no other thoughts in his mind but their love.

Lindir cried his beloved’s name when Thranduil finally joined their bodies together. He wept as he felt strong arms around him, holding him tightly against a firm chest. He pressed himself even closer and hot waves of pleasure ran through him as they rested skin against skin. Thranduil’s warm breath caressed his ear and neck, making him shiver. How Lindir loved his mate who filled him so deliciously, whispering loving words all the while he moved, loving him like no one else ever could. Lindir felt Thranduil’s devotion wrapping around him like a warm blanket, and the feeling made his heart almost burst with love. Gentle hands caressed his belly and aching arousal until he was ready to explode.

“Thranduil… oh… oh… Thran…” Lindir moaned again and again, his lover’s name stumbling from his lips like an ancient song of love. He arched his back in the throes of his completion, crying out his pleasure. When the burning ecstasy finally began to settle into warm, languorous feeling, Lindir finally felt Thranduil releasing deep into him. Fresh tears filled his eyes, but this time they flew because overwhelming love and happiness.

Lindir opened his eyes when Thranduil rose from the bed. He waited as his mate quickly went to the bathroom and came back with a towel.

“I love you, meleth nín. You are always so good, so loving with me,” Lindir whispered, when Thranduil gently cleaned him and then took him into his arms.

“How could I not to be? You are my whole life, Lindir nín. I will always love you,” Thranduil said softly, capturing Lindir’s lips into deep kiss. He chuckled when Lindir suddenly broke the kiss and yawned.

“And now it is time for you to sleep. I will hold you”, he continued, and Lindir didn’t resist. It didn’t take long before he was in a deep sleep, a happy smile on his face.

Thranduil did, as he had promised and held Lindir while he slept. He sent a silent, desperate plea to Valar praying for his mate and children.

“Be at peace, Thranduil O Taur- Nu- Fuin. Your plea hasn’t gone in vain. Your son will face difficulties, but he will make his way through them because he has a strong fëa and loving family. All will be well,” the soft voice suddenly echoed in his mind.

“Master Lórien? Is that you?” Thranduil whispered, surprised. He hadn’t heard anything from Lórien or Námo since Legolas’ birth. What does this mean?

“I’m Lórien, and I came to tell you that soon you will be greatly blessed. The child your mate is carrying will be a great joy to all of you.”

“I can believe that, Master Lórien. My Lindir has always given me nothing but joy,”
Thranduil smiled, smoothing his sleeping mate’s cheek. His heart eased, and soon he too drifted off.

The Anar had hardly begun to rise when Lindir abruptly stirred. He felt the familiar pain cutting through his body, and he woke his hervenn up immediately.

“Our waiting is almost over, meleth nín. She is coming now,” Lindir whispered at his sleepy mate’s ear, and Thranduil’s weariness disappeared in one fleeting moment.

“Do you want me to fetch Elrond?” He asked and jumped from the bed, beginning to search his clothes. He didn’t care about his appearance, so simple leggings and a tunic were enough.

“Please do, but help me up and give me my clothes before you go,” Lindir chuckled, watching his mate’s fussing. He didn’t say anything about Thranduil’s tousled appearance but merely kissed him, and then sent him to get help.

Lindir wasn’t scared, even as he felt the pain increasing. He welcomed this discomfort because soon he would give his beloved mate a greatest gift imaginable: another child, born from their love. Slowly he dressed himself, occasionally stopping because of the sudden wave of pain.

“I’m so happy that I will finally see you, iell nín (my daughter). You have been anticipated and will be more than welcomed,” Lindir whispered, smoothing his belly.

After a short wait, he heard rushed footsteps from the corridor and the door opened.

“Are you all right, Lindir?” Elrond asked, stepping beside him.

“I’m fine. Though I think that our iell wants to meet the world much faster than her brother,” Lindir panted, as they began to walk to the healing-wing.

It appeared that Lindir had been right. The childbirth quickened all the time they went to the healing- wing, and Thranduil needed to carry his mate for the rest of the journey. The king waved aside all offers to help, holding Lindir possessively in his arms. Despite his pain, Lindir was happy when Thranduil didn’t want to let him go. He wrapped his arms around Thranduil’s neck and listened to his mate’s soothing voice.

Elrond walked behind the royal pair with mixed feelings. Thranduil’s and Lindir’s love for each other warmed his heart. The King carried his mate like he had been the most precious treasure in all Arda, whispering to him lovingly all the while. Elrond was happy for them but their happiness reminded him painfully of his own, self- made loneliness. He would never have the fortune to carry his own mate to childbirth, whispering to him lovingly…
