Identical grey eyes watched the wagons pass below them, along with elves on horseback and on foot. From their perch in the tree along the path leading to the Last Homely House, eyes widen at the unfamiliar travelers that are making their way through the Hidden Valley. During their short lives, tales had been heard about the gypsy elves; elusive, wild, fun-loving, musical and mischievous were among the descriptions they had heard. Elladan and Elrohir were in awe as they observed the group. Their clothing was similar to that of the elves they had grown up around, but it was different with colorful threads, belts and some had bells tied to the sleeves.

“Why do you think they wear bells, Dan?” Elrohir tapped his brother’s shoulder and pointed.

“Maybe they get lost easily. Remember Erestor tied a bell around one of the milk cows that kept wandering off.”

“We should watch them incase they get lost here in the valley, Tor.” Elladan nodded and they continued to watch the visitors.

A tall golden haired elf on horseback moved his horse to the side of the group and stopped just under the tree where the twins were sitting. They were both drawn to the hands and arms of the elf. They were adorn with rings and cuffs around his upper arms.

“Keep the group moving, Hadrin; I will be along shortly,” the ellon said, and then slowly tilted his head until he was looking directly at the twins. Elrohir gripped his brother’s arm. Gildor grinned at the identical elflings in the tree. He knew them instantly having been present when they were born just over 30 years ago.

“Mae govannen, pin nith. You have grown since I last saw you.” Gildor shook the hair back from his face, exposing his perfectly pointed ears that were each pierced several times. Earrings of different sizes, some with simple stones and some with thin chains hanging from them, shone clearly as he smiled at them.

“We have never seen you before,” Elladan said as he nudged his brother and they swung down from the tree landing near Gildor’s horse.

“No, you were newborns when I was here last. I see you have grown to resemble both your parents. You have your father’s piercing eyes,” they smiled having had heard that description before, “and your mother’s beautiful smile.”

“You are Gildor, the leader of the gypsy elves.” Elrohir stated.

“Yes, I am. Gildor Inglorion at your service, young lords.” He bowed from atop his horse. “May I give you a ride to the house? I am anxious to see your parents and Erestor.”

They nodded and he hauled them up on his horse, both sitting in front of him. “You can meet Glorfindel too.” Elladan looked over his shoulder, still mesmerized by the shiny earrings hanging from Gildor’s ears.

“Ah yes, I heard his was returned. I look forward to meeting him…again.” Gildor grinned.

“Do you know Glorfindel?” Elladan asked, watching a large hoop earring swing back and forth.

“I knew him in his first life. I always found him very fair.”

“Well, don’t let Erestor hear you say that. He and Glorfindel are married, and he gets a funny look in his eyes when anyone admires Glorfindel.” Elrohir said with a very serious warning on his face.

Gildor laughed heartily. “Are you telling me that someone finally found a way into Erestor’s heart?”

“He sure did.” The younger twin nodded.

Elladan was still watching Gildor’s earrings. “Lord Gildor? Does that hurt?”

Knowing the elfling was entranced by his jewelry, he ruffled his hair. “Only for a moment and then you don’t feel anything.”

“I want that in my ear. It is pretty.”

“Well, if your parents say it is all right, I will pierce them for you.”

“How do you do it?”

“You must stand very still and I shoot an arrow into your earlobe.” Gildor could hardly contain his laughter as the twins both gasped. “No need to worry, I have done it many times.”

The twins were silent for a short time, and then Elrohir whispered to his brother. Gildor held his laughter once again. Elladan nudged Elrohir, so the younger twin looked at the older elf. “Have you ever missed, Lord Gildor?”

“Oh, a few times, but their ears grew back, and the one ellon never seemed to miss his right eye.” Twin heads whipped around, no longer making eye contact with him.

As they arrived at the house, Elrond, Celebrian, Erestor and Glorfindel were waiting on the steps. The twins jumped down from the horse before Gildor had fully stopped. “Thank you for the ride, Lord Gildor,” they said as they ran into the house holding their hands over their ears.

Gildor dismounted with tears in his eyes from laughing. “What on earth was all that about?” Elrond asked.

Gildor hugged him and then Celebrian. “I don’t think you will have to worry about your sons wanting to wear any jewelry in their ears for some time,” he wiped tears from his eyes as he greeted Erestor and Glorfindel.

“What did you tell them, Gildor?” Celebrian playfully slapped his arm, as he wrapped an arm around her waist and Elrond’s shoulders.

“I told them I would have to shoot their earlobes with an arrow, and then I told them I only missed occasionally.” All the adults laughed.

“No wonder they were covering their ears. Gildor, you are terrible.” Elrond laughed and shook his head.

Gildor looked over his shoulder and winked at Glorfindel. “You look good enough to eat, meldir.”

Glorfindel blushed to his blond roots and Erestor glared at Gildor who chuckled and herded the Lord and Lady of Imladris the opposite direction. “The twins warned me about Erestor’s jealousy. So it is true, they are bound?”

Celebrian smiled. “Yes, they are and very happy.”

“Hmmm…I guess I will have to find another to pleasure while I am here.” As they came to Gildor’s guest rooms, Lindir came looking for Elrond. “Lindir! You are just as lovely as I remember…”

Elrond and Celebrian quickly slipped away as Gildor led a blushing Lindir into his room.

On the other side of the house…

“Why did he wink at you? Do you know Gildor?” Erestor asked his husband.

“Erestor, my love, of course I know Gildor. This is my second life you know.” Glorfindel was trying to calm his jealous mate down. “Come now, let me show you that you are the only one I love,” Glorfindel whispered as he nibbled on Erestor’s ear and licked the patch of skin just below his left ear. He knew his dark love could not resist when he did that.

“Okay…but…oh, Fin…you will…yes, oh there…you will tell me…mmm…uh…oh…I love you.”

Glorfindel chuckled as his husband practically melted under him. He knew eventually he would have to tell Erestor about his past with Gildor, but that would wait until later.
