Gildor rode through the gates of Gondolin, being one of a very few who knew the secret location of the city; he was privilege to be so trusted by King Turgon. Finally making his way to the city proper, he dismounted and leaned over a large fountain to splash water over his head. Hearing a giggle, he looked up to see the most enchanting sight, a young ellon about 30 years old smiling at him.
“Hello, pen neth,” he said as water dripped from his chin.
“Hello,” the young one said shyly. “Did you get your face dirty too?”
Gildor grinned as he noticed the young blonds' face smudged with dirt. “I have been travelling a long time and I am quite dirty. I see you have been travelling too.” He motioned to the little one’s cheek.
“Oh no, I haven’t gone anywhere. I was playing in nana’s garden. She wasn’t happy with me and sent me here to wash up.” Gildor smiled as the little blond began washing his face.
“I am Gildor; what is your name pen neth?”
The now clean faced young one looked up and gave Gildor a blinding smile. “My name is Glorfindel, from the House of the Golden Flower. Well met, Gildor. Well, I must go now. Dinner is almost ready.” Glorfindel turned, but then turned back. “Would you like to have dinner with my family, Gildor?”
He considered the invitation for a moment. He knew Turgon was expecting him, so when a page walked past, Gildor grabbed him and gave him word to tell the king he was delayed and would see him after the dinner hour.
“I would love to, Glorfindel, lead the way.” Gildor smiled when Glorfindel offered his hand. Taking the smaller hand in his, Gildor let himself be led all the while thinking that Glorfindel was certainly going to break a few hearts when he got older.
