No one ever told me that angels had green eyes.

I knew what he had lost. His eyes mirrored the scars that marked him faintly. What he did not know was that I had lost the same thing. He had lost his own in the heat of battle, when all those who fought knew of the risks. I had lost mine in a simple, short journey; I had watched him die as I waited for my own death to come.

Every day I watched my angel, waiting for him to save me from my inner demons. I knew he watched me, even though he tried to hide his curiosity behind his emerald veil and his golden halo.

I always wondered if angels really did wander in our lands.

I saw the pain of his past locked within those green eyes. Yet I also saw something that I did not possess.

Hope.

And it made me want to believe. To trust ...

To hope.

And so, I let him in. Let him unlock my soul and give me his light.

Those angel eyes now guided my way.
