Summary: Some relationships require sacrifices.

*****

He should have known better, but who could resist those chocolate brown eyes with their earnest expression? Those full lips that would kiss him senseless and cry out his name passionately as Viggo thrust into him.

When Orli told Viggo that he loved only him, Viggo counted his blessings. When he first met Orlando, he lost himself in that dark, puppy-doglike gaze and rich voice. But Orlando already had many lovers, so Viggo had relegated himself to the role of close friend. He was delighted when that changed.

Sean looked askance when Viggo told him that they were a couple, warning Viggo about Orlando's notorious reputation and the many notches on Orli's bedpost from both cast and crew, himself included. Viggo kindly informed Sean that it was Orlando's attempt at finding security, remembering Orlando's tear-stained face last night as he bared his heart, confessing his fear of failing completely, and his worries that no one would accept the punk kid as a real actor. Orlando found solace and acceptance in the many people who shared his bed, an affirmation that he was somebody.

Viggo brushed his lips across the smooth cheek, kissing the tears away. Soon, the small kisses traveled downward, became more fevered, clothes were quickly removed, hands burned a trail across bare skin, and before he knew it, Orlando was writhing underneath him, clawing his back and holding onto him as if his life depended on it.

As they cuddled afterward, Orlando confessed his love for Viggo, promised from the bottom of his heart that he would change, and Viggo knew that he meant it.

After a blissful five months, it began gradually, with Orli coming home later and later, smelling of someone else's cologne. Viggo kept his suspicions to himself, though, forcing himself to smile as Orli draped himself over everyone, assuring himself that it was purely platonic when Orlando kissed someone else or responded to their flirting. Then, he noticed that Orlando started keeping his eyes closed when they made love, almost as if he were afraid to face him.

He didn't confront Orlando with his suspicions. He knew Orlando needed his trust, needed his stability. And he didn't want to acknowledge the niggling doubts, even to himself.

Then one night, Viggo returned home late. Orlando was deep asleep; his arms thrown over his face, making him look very young. Smiling, Viggo pulled down the sheet and took Orlando's cock into his mouth, skillfully sucking it until it was hard and throbbing.

Orlando shifted and moaned, still ensconced in his dreamland. Viggo sped up his pace, wrapping his tongue around the head, before plunging the length deep in his throat. He kept a steady rhythm, eagerly tasting the moisture that seeped from the slit.

Unable to resist, Orlando sleepily came, crying out someone else's name. Viggo swallowed his release, noticing how much more bitter it tasted. Still half-asleep, Orlando rolled over, purring quietly until his breathing deepened and he drifted back asleep.

Viggo sighed and crawled into bed, snuggling up close his lover. Ian had once frankly asked him why he put up with the young elf, and Viggo didn't answer him, even though he knew.

For he saw a reflection of himself in Orlando. And if he was in Orlando's shoes, he wasn't sure if he'd be able to say no, either.

So, for now, he lets Orlando indulge himself, hoping that he'll find the courage to confess one day and stop sleeping around for real. He continually turns a blind eye to Orli's antics, for Orlando has ensnared him, and he's too much in love to end the relationship.

So until that fateful day, he can wait, for anything was better than coming home to a cold bed and being alone.
