The double doors leading out to the balcony stood open. The predawn breeze fluttering the curtains was cool, but not unpleasantly so. Glorfindel stood with his arms folded across his chest, leaning casually against the door frame. He only wore a light silk robe tied loosely about his narrow hips. His nostrils flared slightly at the soft scent in the air.

He had done this countless times before, but he never tired of it. Soon, he would be able to drink in the beautiful sight he loved more than any other. The sun would rise and the very first rays of the new day would illuminate the most breathtaking vision in Eru's creation. This was how he started each day, with his eyes resting on what he loved most as light returned to a world shrouded in darkness.

The Balrog Slayer's eyes were not fixed on the landscape outside his window, as might be expected. Rather, he was turned to face his bed...their bed. He had not given any reason for why he was so adamant the large piece of furniture be positioned where it was within the chamber, but he had gotten his way, nonetheless. It was the very spot where the first light of dawn shone within their rooms, or anywhere within Imladris, for that matter. It was also the place where Erestor lay slumbering each day, curled on his side.

Glorfindel chuckled silently at the picture Erestor presented. His face was relaxed in reverie, making him look much younger than his thousands of years. His eyelids slowly blinked, briefly hiding the stormy gray eyes Glorfindel loved so much before revealing them again. Erestor always slept with his hands pressed together beneath his cheek, and his knees bent slightly, which Glorfindel found endearing.

The birds outside were chirping, now, and the breeze had died down.

Any moment . . .

There! That was it!

Dawn had broken upon Imladris, and Glorfindel sighed as he watched Anor's light illuminate Erestor's sleeping form as if shrouding him in gold.

Many said that the sun loved Glorfindel and his golden beauty, but those who did had never seen the vision that greeted the reborn Elf each morning.

Erestor was covered only by a light sheet that was slung low on his hips. The blue-black highlights in his hair, tousled by lovemaking and slumber, shimmered deeply in the new light; his sleep-warmed cheeks glowed softly pink. The heavy fall of his inky black hair draped his form, accentuating the paleness of his alabaster skin. His lips, slightly swollen from the passionate kisses they had shared during the night, were parted slightly, giving him an unexpectedly vulnerable appearance.

Glorfindel smiled. This was *his* beautiful Erestor and Glorfindel would see to it that his lover always received Dawn's first kiss no matter where they were.

Quietly, Glorfindel pulled the curtains across the open doorway, providing his sleeping mate with some protection from the brightening light. Whether Erestor knew of his husband's morning ritual, Glorfindel did not know. He would not have minded if he did know about it, but he did his best not to let it disturb Erestor's rest.

Glorfindel let the robe slip from his body and carefully crawled back into bed to spoon up behind Erestor for another hour or so of reverie. When his arm slipped about his husband's waist, the sleeping Elf's lips curved slightly and he sighed in contentment.
