Title: In the Name of Love
Author: Ginger
Type: FCHet, FCS
Characters: Aragorn/Legolas, Legolas/OC ( Isilwen), Haldir/OC ( Isilwen), Haldir/Legolas
Rating: NC-17
Disclaimer: The estate of the esteemed genius J.R.R. Tolkien, along with Peter
Jackson, New Line Cinema, et al, own these characters and places, except Isilwen
who is the product of my overly-stimulated, over-active imagination.
This is only a warped little piece of fiction from the brain of a love-starved
and crazy female. Please don't sue me! I mean no offence with
this, and I don't have anything worth suing for.
Timeline: Sometime after Bilbo has left the Shire, but several years before
rest of the events in LOTR.
Warnings: Slash, Het, and rape (sensual though it may be, it is still rape).
If any of these topics makes you uncomfortable, please don't read this.
Summary: What more in the name of love?
Author's Notes: This is movie-verse, as I have very different ideas about
the book characters and the movie characters. Tolkien's characters,
as depicted in the books, are sacrosanct**, in my opinion, and wouldn't be
caught dead in these situations! The movie characters, however, are
more pliable in the realm of fiction, and I have no problems picturing them
in just about any situation imaginable!

All Elven phrases are in italics, and their translations in English within
parenthesis immediately following. These come from "The Grey Company",
which can be found at www.thegrey-company.org. The song Haldir sings
first in the Hall Of Fire is "In Dreams" from "The Fellowship
Of The Ring" soundtrack. The second song he sings is "Love"
by John Lennon. (I've never heard "Love" , I only read the
lyrics on a web site, so forgive me in advance if the real song is such that
an elf would never sing it!)
A'maelamin means "My beloved"
Melamin means "My love"
From Webster's II New College Dictionary:
*Rape: The crime of forcing another person to submit to sexual intercourse.
**Sacrosanct: Sacred and inviolable.
Chapter 1:
The sun was setting as Legolas and Isilwen rode into Rivendell, turning the
sky a bright rainbow of orange shades. The fading light brought shadows
under the trees, surrounding them in a comforting twilight. Isilwen
had grown up here, a daughter of rangers, raised in the comfort and safety
of Imladris after the death of her parents. This was the first time
she and Legolas had journeyed here since their marriage three years ago.
Marriage. Isilwen smiled at the thought. She loved Legolas more
than life itself. He was the only being in Middle Earth that she cared
about. But ,though Legolas loved Isilwen, their's was truly a marriage
of convenience. His heart belonged to another, Aragorn. Isilwen
had known this since soon after she met Legolas, but it had made no difference.
She had fallen in love with him anyway.
Thranduil, Legolas' father, knew of his son's love for Aragorn, even approved
of it. Under other circumstances, he would have welcomed their union.
But Thranduil was wise and pragmatic. He saw clearly what Legolas refused
to think about. Aragorn would one day be King of Gondor. He would
marry Arwen and have children. Legolas would no longer be the focus
of Aragorn's love and attention.
One day, while visiting Mirkwood with Arwen, Isilwen had heard Thranduil arguing
with Legolas about his unwedded state. She had sought out Legolas that
evening and offered him a solution, one that would appease his father while
still allowing him to remain with his beloved Aragorn. One that would
allow her to spend her life with the one she loved. He was hesitant
at first, knowing he cared deeply for her, but also knowing that he was incapable
of giving her physical love. However, it only took her a couple of days
to convince him. After another row with his father, Legolas came to
her room and knelt at her feet, asking for her hand. They were married
soon after, and had lived in Mirkwood since. Aragorn visited often,
and she helped them to find privacy and solitude together away from the crowded
halls of Thranduil's large palace. Both Aragorn and Legolas treated
her with the utmost respect, both taking on the part of loving husband in
many ways. She felt truly blessed to have both of them a part of her
life.
Aragorn met them as they rode up to Rivendell's stables. Taking Isilwen
in his arms, he kissed her gently on her forehead. Smiling, he said,
" Nae saian luume', little Isilwen. It is good
to see you again." ("It has been too long.")
"Aragorn, both Legolas and I have missed you these past months.
It is wonderful to see you again, too."
Turning, Aragorn took Legolas' face in his hands, bestowing a loving kiss
on the elf's waiting mouth. As the kiss deepened, their arms encircled
each other in a loving, passionate embrace.
"Legolas, cormamin lindua ele lle." ("My
heart sings to see thee.")
"Mine also, Aragorn."
Isilwen saw the love in their eyes, and smiled. She had Legolas, Legolas
had Aragorn. All was right with her world.
Chapter 2:
The Hall of Fire was filled with the sound of Elven voices raised in song.
Isilwen loved the atmosphere here. She had spent many hours in the Hall
while growing up, listening to Elven songs and tales. As a child, she
had often wished to be an elf, wished she had such a lovely, moving voice
as her Elven friends did. Tonight, the Rivendell elves had been joined
by a group of elves from Lothlorien, who had accompanied Arwen back from a
visit with her grandparents, Lady Galadriel and Lord Celeborn. One of
the Lorien elves, Haldir, stood and sang a lilting song in the language of
Lorien. Though she didn't understand all of the Elven words, the song,
as Elven songs always do to Mortals, translated itself in her mind.
When the cold of Winter comes
Starless night will cover day
In the veiling of the sun
We will walk in bitter rain
But in dreams I can hear your name
And in dreams
We will meet again
When the seas and mountains fall
And we come to end of days
In the dark I hear a call
Calling me there
I will go there
And back again.
There was quiet applause in the Hall, everyone clapping in the Elven way,
right hand tapping on top of left, in appreciation of Haldir's voice and the
beautiful song. Haldir bowed to the Hall, and stepped away to rejoin
his companions.
A Elbereth Gilthoniel...
As a new voice began the song to Elbereth, Legolas entered the Hall.
His eyes met Isilwen's, and he smiled as he walked toward her.
"My beloved," he said, softly kissing her cheek, "You look
so happy that I believe you have not missed me." He pouted, but
his eyes sparkled with humour.
She grinned as she looked into his deep blue eyes. "You know very
well how much I miss you when you are not beside me, my love. The happiness
you see comes from the knowledge that you were not far away."
Across the Hall, Haldir watched them as they stood entwined in each other's
arms. He had heard that Legolas had married, but knowing Legolas as
he did, he had assumed his partner would not be a woman. Centuries before,
Haldir and Legolas had met in Lothlorien. They had become friends, but
nothing more. Haldir loved women, while Legolas preferred the affection
of men. Now, watching Legolas and Isilwen in each other's arms, he wondered
at the change that seemed to have come over his friend. As he watched,
Aragorn approached the couple. Legolas released Isilwen to wrap his
arms around Aragorn. Isilwen did not look unhappy at this. Nay,
she smiled as she watched them embrace. A few minutes later, Aragorn
kissed Isilwen's cheek, and left the Hall, hand in hand with Legolas.
Haldir's curiosity got the better of him. Excusing himself from the Lorien
group, he made his way thru the crowd to where Elrond sat, speaking with Elrohir.
As Haldir approached, Elrond looked up. Haldir bowed, putting
his right hand over his heart in the Elven gesture of respect. "Lord
Elrond, it is a pleasure to be in your House once again."
"You are always welcome here, Haldir. What is on your mind?"
Haldir had obviously failed to keep his curiosity from showing on his face.
He smiled and said, "The lovely lady there," he gestured towards
Isilwen, "Who is she? I would dearly like to make her acquaintance."
Elrond followed Haldir's gaze. "That is Isilwen, wife of Prince
Legolas of Mirkwood. Come, I will introduce you."
Isilwen looked up to see Elrond and Haldir talking. As they walked toward
her, she met Haldir's gaze. His dark eyes seemed to look into her very
soul, sending a shiver of fear up her spine.
" Isilwen, you look radiant, as always, this fine evening."
Elrond took both her hands in his, smiling down at her.
Isilwen smiled back, and said, "You are too kind, Lord Elrond."
Releasing one of her hands, he gestured to the golden-haired elf next to him.
" Isilwen, this is Haldir of Lorien. He wished to make your acquaintance,
and I was most happy to oblige. Haldir, may I present Isilwen, wife
of Prince Legolas of Mirkwood."
Haldir smiled as he took her hand, bowing and lightly kissing her knuckles.
" Saesa omentien lle, Isilwen. Vanimle sila
tiri. " ("Pleasure meeting you, Isilwen. Your beauty
shines bright.")
Blushing and lowering her eyes, she replied, "You flatter me, Haldir
of Lorien. Are all of the elves from the Realm of the Lady Galadriel
so sweet spoken?"
"I do but tell the truth, fair lady."
"If you both will excuse me, I must find Arwen." Elrond squeezed
her hand and walked away. Isilwen wished he had stayed. She couldn't
understand why she felt so nervous and frightened with Haldir. He still
had not released her hand. She looked up and saw that his eyes were
trying to bore into her, as though he would see right thru her.
"Your song was beautiful."
"Thank you, fair Isilwen. Would you do me the honor of walking
with me amongst Lord Elrond's gardens? I am unused to being inside for
so long."
"I would enjoy that very much," she lied, not knowing how to decline
such a polite request without offending him.
Linking his arm around hers, he guided her out of the Hall into the night.
After a few moments of walking in silence, they came to a bridge overlooking
the river, the waterfalls nearby creating a gentle music. Haldir gazed
up at the stars, as Isilwen looked out over the valley.
"May I ask you a question, fair Isilwen?"
"Of course," she replied.
"How did you come to be wed to cousin Legolas?"
She thought for a moment, choosing her words carefully. "We met
here in Rivendell a few years ago, and became friends. Later, I accompanied
Arwen to Mirkwood. There, Legolas and I fell in love, and he asked for
my hand. Now may I ask you a question, Haldir?"
" T'would be only fair, my lady."
"Why do you ask?"
He, too, chose his words carefully as he answered. "I have known
Legolas for centuries. In all that time, he has never shown any inclination
to bind himself to anyone. I was understandably curious to know how
you managed to change that in him."
She smiled to herself. "Sometimes love changes people."
He choked loudly while trying to bite back a question that he knew was none
of his business. Anger flared in her eyes, as she turned to him and
demanded, "You find my sentiment humorous, do you?"
Looking into her spark-filled eyes, the words spilled, unbidden, from his
lips. "The change you speak of must have been a true miracle indeed
if it made Legolas love a woman."
Her palm struck his cheek before he even saw the movement, landing with a
force he had not expected from such a slight frame. Her eyes blazed,
but her voice was low. "How dare you! You know little of
love if you can speak thus." Turning on her heel, she would have
ran back to the Hall, but Haldir's sudden grip on her arm prevented her escape.
"Let go of me!" she demanded.
Their eyes met, shooting sparks at each other. They stood thus for what
seemed an eternity, Haldir's grip still tight on her arm. Suddenly,
he pulled her roughly to him, his free hand entwining in the hair falling
softly down her back. Slowly, he lowered his head and planted his mouth
firmly over hers. She struggled against him, trying to break away, but
he did not let go. His tongue slid along her lips, until she gasped.
Immediately, his tongue invaded her mouth, entwining with her tongue in a
mad dance. Without conscious thought, without even knowing she did so,
she leaned into him, her mind numb to everything except the slow burn growing
in the pit of her stomach. The kiss seemed endless. Time stood
still.
Somewhere far away a nightingale began its sad refrain. Startled, Isilwen
returned to her senses, and jerked free of Haldir's loosened hold. She
looked up at him, shocked. And frightened. Without a word, she
tore away, running back up the path toward the door to the Hall. Instead
of entering, she ran along the verandah until she reached an unoccupied terrace.
Her strength failed, and she fell to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably.
Haldir walked slowly back to the Hall of Fire. From outside the door
he was able to search the sea of faces, and quickly realized that Isilwen
was not among the crowd. Telling himself that he was only concerned
for her safety, he went on around the gardens to search for her.
He came upon her so silently, that even another elf would not have heard him.
She was sitting on the edge of the verandah, knees pulled up to her chin,
her arms clasped tightly around her legs, quietly crying. Sensing a
presence, she jerked her head up. Haldir saw terror in her eyes, and
stood rooted to the ground. Words failed him. They studied each
other. Finally she broke the silence.
"Please leave. I wish to be alone."
"Please allow me to stay. I wish to speak with you."
"I believe, Haldir of Lorien , that you have said more than enough this
night. Now, please go."
"You are trembling, please let me take you back inside." As
he stretched out his hand, she flinched, and leaned away. "As you
wish," he said quietly, turning to go. He stopped a few paces away,
his back to her. "You have never been kissed like that before,
have you?"
More tears welled in her already over-flowing eyes. "No."
Her voice was so quiet that none but an elf would have heard.
Silently, he walked away.
Chapter 3:
Isilwen could not stem the flow of tears. All she could think about
was Haldir's kiss. How she had responded, that burning inside her stomach.
She had never felt like that before. Legolas had never kissed her like
that, not that she had ever expected him to. She knew that he loved
her emotionally. She also knew that his physical love, his passion,
was given only to Aragorn. All three of them knew that one day Aragorn
would wed Arwen, but they also knew that Arwen had no more problem with Legolas'
and Aragorn's passion than Isilwen did. As long as an heir to the throne
of Gondor should be produced, it mattered not whom Aragorn chose to share
his bed with. Arwen loved Aragorn enough to share him with Legolas,
and Isilwen loved Legolas enough to share him with Aragorn. The difference
was that Arwen would share in Aragorn's passion someday, but Isilwen knew
that Legolas' passion would never be shared with her. This had not bothered
her, had not been even a remote problem...until tonight.
Tonight. Haldir. That kiss. Why had she responded that way?
She had been so angry at him for what he'd said about Legolas, but when his
lips had touched hers she'd totally melted into his embrace.
She remembered a conversation she and Legolas had had the night before they
began their journey to Rivendell. They had returned to their chambers
after a dinner where Isilwen had clearly been the object of a visiting elf's
attentions. Isilwen had done nothing to lead the man on or give any
sign that she was interested, but the elf was obviously smitten with her.
When the door had closed behind them, Legolas had taken her in his
arms and asked a question that he had never asked before.
" Isilwen, have you ever regretted binding yourself to me? To someone
incapable of loving you physically?"
His voice had trembled slightly, betraying his fear as he waited for her answer.
"No, A'maelamin. I love you with all my heart and all
my soul. For me, the physical expression of love has little meaning.
You have always been gentle, tender, and loving with me. I want only
the part of your love you are capable of sharing with me. I need no
more than that, Melamin."
Her arms held him tighter as she laid her head on his chest. In his
arms she always felt safe, secure, and very much loved. His lips grazed
her head in a slight kiss, as his hand lightly caressed her hair.
" Melamin...my wife...you deserve better."
"Legolas, Beloved, I know that you love me. That is all I require.
I would live my days alone if I could not be with you."
He drew back slightly, gently tilting her head until their eyes met.
"I do love you. I am honored you have chosen me to share your life
with."
But tonight, Haldir had somehow changed all that. With just one kiss.
One kiss that had left her breathless with a desire she had not known she
possessed. A desire that could never be fulfilled, for she desired Legolas,
and no one else.
Legolas was not in their room when Isilwen finally went inside. She
was still trembling. Not with cold, as the night was quite pleasant,
but with fear. Fear of Haldir. Fear of how she had responded to
his kiss. Quickly discarding her dress, she crawled into the warmth
of the bed. When Legolas came in some time later, she was still awake,
but no longer trembling. As he gently laid himself next to her, she
opened her eyes to look into his.
" Isilwen, why are you still awake?" he whispered, caressing her
cheek with his hand.
"I was waiting for you, Melamin. Please hold me.
I need to feel your arms about me."
Encircling her with his arms, pulling her head to his chest, he asked, "What
is wrong, my love? You are sad, I feel it."
"I had a very disturbing dream, that is all. The sadness will pass
now that you are holding me."
She didn't feel it was a real lie. What had happened with Haldir seemed
like a bad dream, one she hoped to wake from in the morning. Only now,
with her head on Legolas' chest and the feel of his arms about her, that burning
sensation was slowly building in her stomach. She closed her eyes tightly
against the tears that threatend to spill out.
Chapter 4 :
Several days passed. Legolas, Isilwen, Aragorn, and Arwen spent most
of the time together, talking, singing, laughing, enjoying being together.
Isilwen saw little of Haldir, for which she was thankful. She had not
told Legolas or anyone else what had happened. Haldir would be returning
to Lorien soon, and she saw no need to anger Legolas, or Aragorn for that
matter. She knew both of them would be furious.
Another night in the Hall of Fire. Isilwen sat beside Legolas, his arm
around her shoulders. Bilbo, the elderly hobbit from the Shire, was
reciting poetry for the pleasure of the assembled crowd. Isilwen had
always enjoyed Bilbo's poems and songs. They never failed to make her
laugh, and tonight was no exception.
As Bilbo's recitation ended, laughter mixed with the quieter Elven applause
as Bilbo bowed to the crowd. Soon another voice began to sing.
Elven words became Westron in Isilwen's mind.
Love is real
Real is love
Love is feeling
Feeling love
Love is wanting
To be loved
Love is touch
Touch is love
Love is reaching
Reaching love
Love is asking
To be loved
Love is you
You and me
Love is knowing
We can be
Love is free
Free is love
Love is living
Living love
Love is needing
To be loved
As he sang, Haldir gazed at Isilwen in Legolas' embrace. A jealousy
he had never felt before burned thru him. How could Legolas deny Isilwen
the physical love she so greatly deserved? How could he truly love her
and not worship her with his body? It simply wasn't right. She
deserved better. She deserved a lover who would take her to the greatest
heights of love, worship her, love her, need her, make her complete.
Isilwen looked up, and Haldir's eyes met hers. He knew that she was
the one he sang of. He could see that she knew it, too. He saw
the fear in her eyes as he held her gaze. More than anything, he wanted
to take that fear away, to hold her, to love her.
When the song ended, Haldir bowed to the crowd, and left the Hall. He
knew what he was going to do, had made up his mind to act before finishing
the song. He would show her love of the most physical kind. Love
as passionate and beautiful as the dawning of a new day.
Chapter 5:
Legolas had left the Hall with Aragorn, leaving Isilwen in the company of Arwen. Haldir approached, bowing to them both.
"Lady Arwen, Lady Isilwen, you are both looking radiant this evening."
Arwen laughed. "Haldir your sweet tongue will not benefit you any more tonight than any other. Please join us."
Isilwen desperately hoped that Haldir would refuse the offer, but he took a seat next to her. She was trying to think of a polite way to excuse herself, when his voice whispered in her ear, "Please walk with me. The night is beautiful, and I would enjoy your company." She looked up into his eyes, and was surprised to hear herself whisper, "As you wish, Haldir."
They walked much further tonight, quietly passing thru the trees. They came upon a small clearing, and Haldir bade her to sit and relax. He sat next to her, and put his arm around her shoulders. She started at his touch, but his voice whispered in her ear, "Do not be frightened, little Isilwen, I will not hurt you." Her heart was pounding so hard she was sure he heard it. Finding no words to say, she sat silently, wondering what was wrong with her. Why had she come out here with him? Why was that burning so strong in her stomach? So lost was she in the turmoil of her thoughts, she didn't notice him stand, remove his cape and spread it on the ground. He stood in front of her, holding out his hand.
"Come."
She took his hand, and he helped her up. He led her to the spot he had chosen, and standing close behind her, reached around to take her in his arms. He pulled her to him, resting his chin on her shoulder as his hands clasped in front of her, holding her tightly to him. She didn't struggle. She didn't move. What was wrong with her? Why didn't she try to run? Why had she suddenly lost her voice?
Gently Haldir lowered them both to the ground, keeping his arms around her. He pulled her closer, breathing in her sweet fragrance, running a hand thru her dark hair.
"Haldir, please don't do this. Please stop." Her voice was barely a whisper.
Without speaking, his mouth found hers, capturing it gently beneath his. His tongue on her lips. Her lips opening. Her tongue seeking his. That burning in her stomach. She lost herself in his kiss.
As he gently squeezed her breast thru the soft material of her gown, she was jolted back to reality. She gasped and tried to push him away. Moaning softly, Haldir gently ended the kiss and raised his head just enough to look down into her now tear-filled eyes.
"Please don't do this, Haldir. Please. I beg you. Let me go."
"No, little Isilwen, I will not let you go. Not until I have shown you the wonder and pleasure of physical love. Not until I have given you what your husband has withheld from you, what he has denied you. You deserve so much more. I want to give that to you." Softly, he kissed her forehead, then kissed the tears from her cheeks.
"No, Haldir. This is wrong. Please. I beg you."
"Tell me your body does not want this and I will stop,"
he whispered against her ear as his hand reached down her bodice and softly
caressed her breasts. She moaned as his thumb teased her nipple, sending shivers
of intense delight coursing thru her body. She
gasped when he removed his hand. His strong arms went around her, pulling
her slightly off the ground and onto his chest. Quickly his hands undid the
lacings to her dress, until he was able to pull it away from her, baring her
to the waist. Releasing her and moving up to gaze down at her, she heard his
sharp intake of breath.
"You are more beautiful than I ever imagined, Isilwen." His voice was reverent.
Before she could speak, his mouth was again pressed to hers. Their tongues again played the mad dance, exploring each other's mouth, sucking, tasting, searching. A small voice inside her kept trying to tell her this was wrong, but as her desire built to a searing intensity, the voice was stilled. As they kissed, Haldir removed her dress completely. His hands explored every inch of her body, gently, sweetly, reverently. Her hands moved across his chest, and around his back, seeking to find a way in to his body, to feel his warm flesh. Breaking away, he quickly stood and undressed. Returning to her, he knelt between her thighs, looking down into her deep brown eyes. He saw fear there, once again. "Do not be frightened, love, I will not hurt you. I want only to love you."
He bent down to her, this time taking one of her perfect orbs in his mouth, sucking, nibbling, letting his tongue lightly explore the nipple. One of his hands stroked the other orb, his thumb stroking the nipple there until it was firm. Then his mouth and hand traded places. Her body responded to his every touch. He kissed his way down her stomach, as his hands gently stroked and probed the sensitive place between her thighs. She gasped when his tongue entered her, arching her back in ecstasy. With his tongue, he took her to the brink of sweet madness. Then, suddenly, his tongue was gone, replaced by something harder, more solid. Something painful. Her eyes opened wide, as he took her mouth in his once again. Breaking the kiss, he whispered, "It will only hurt for a moment, love," as he pushed into her. Her hands clasped at the back of his neck, holding him tightly to her. Slowly, he moved inside her. Very soon, pain was replaced by a fierce pleasure, that built to such an intensity, she felt as though every nerve in her body was on fire. He increased his rhythm until her passion overtook her. With a cry, her back arched against him, as he brought her to her release. As his passion exploded inside her, they arched together once more, then fell limply back to the ground. He took her in his arms, still inside her, and held her until her breathing slowed.
They lay thus for a long time, Haldir drinking in the sweet fragrance that was hers alone. Finally, Isilwen broke away. Quietly, she stood and gathered her clothes.
"Isilwen, please stay with me. Let me worship you more this night."
Turning to him, her dress clasped tightly to her chest, she looked into his eyes. He was startled to see the fear and loathing that shone in her tear-filled eyes.
"No, Haldir, I must return to my husband." He didn't move, as he watched her walk quickly away.
Isilwen stopped a short way from the clearing to put her dress back on. She was numb, but not with cold. What had she just done?
Chapter 6:
It was hours later that Legolas and Aragorn finally found her. Upon
returning to the Hall of Fire, Legolas had been told that Isilwen had gone
for a walk with Haldir. Neither one had returned. Legolas did
not fear for her safety, as Rivendell was as well-protected from evil as Lothlorien.
He simply assumed that they were lost in conversation somewhere in the gardens.
After a couple of hours, however, he became worried. There are other
evils in the world besides Orcs. Had they been attacked by an animal?
Had they fallen in the river? Where were they? As time continued
to pass without a sign of them, he went to find Aragorn.
"Aragorn, Isilwen is missing. She went for a walk with Haldir and
neither has returned. I'm worried."
"Then let us find them."
They followed the path to the riverside, then searched thru the forest.
As they came to a clearing in the trees, Legolas gave a yelp. Swift
as a deer, he sprinted to her side, Aragorn close behind.
Isilwen started at the sound of Legolas' cry. He was beside her before
she had even raised her head.
"My love, why are you out here alone? You're trembling!"
In a flash he removed his cloak and threw it around her.
Aragorn could see the terror still clear in her eyes. " Isilwen,
what happened?"
She couldn't bring herself to speak. How could she tell them?
Aragorn said quietly, "Legolas, she is in shock. We need to get
her inside."
Legolas scooped her up, holding her tightly to him. She didn't move.
What could possibly have happened to make her so still and silent? Where
was Haldir? What had happened between them? Or had something happened
after they parted? His thoughts were in turmoil as he carried Isilwen
to their room. Aragorn opened the door, and Legolas laid her gently
on the bed. Now in the light, both Aragorn and Legolas took in her red,
tear-filled, terror-filled eyes, tear-stained cheeks...and swollen lips.
The swollen lips that came after kisses.
Legolas fell to his knees beside the bed and took her hand in his. "
A'maelamin, please talk to me. What happened this night?"
Slowly, in a voice devoid of emotion, she replied, "Haldir made love
to me." Suddenly, she jerked her hand from Legolas' grasp and rolled
over with her back to him. He would surely hate her now. Would
send her away. She'd lost everything.
Tears welled up in Legolas' eyes. Judging by the state in which he and
Aragorn had found her, this had not been a lover's tryst. Nay, this
had been something much worse. Aragorn's hand gripped his shoulder,
and he looked up to see anger blazing in his lover's eyes. Quietly,
Aragorn said, "Come outside with me for a moment, Legolas."
She heard the door click behind them, and knew that this was the end of everything
she had ever held dear. Why had she gone with Haldir? Why hadn't
she fought harder against him? Wracking sobs broke from her as she buried
her face in the pillow.
Outside, Aragorn looked into Legolas' eyes. He saw the elf's love for
his wife, his pain from her pain, his anger at Haldir, and something else...jealousy.
"How could he do such a thing to her?" Legolas' voice was venomous.
"I do not know, Legolas. But promise me one thing."
"What?"
"Do not go after him tonight. Isilwen needs you more than you need
your revenge just now."
"You are right, as always, Aragorn. Worry not, I shall avenge her,
but it can wait."
Their eyes locked together for a moment, then Aragorn turned and walked down
the hall to his room. Legolas stood by the door, collecting his thoughts,
trying to calm himself so that he would be able to calm Isilwen. His
keen elven hearing heard her crying, and it tore his heart. Yes, he
would avenge her. Haldir would not go unpunished for what he had done
to Isilwen.
She heard the door open and close again. She knew Legolas was there,
but she couldn't face him. Didn't want to see the hurt and, worse, hatred
that she was sure would be in his eyes now. She felt him sit on the
edge of the bed, and waited for the stinging words she knew would come.
" Isilwen, please look at me." His voice was filled with emotion,
but not the ones she expected. She turned and saw the love in his eyes.
How could he still love her?
" Legolas, please don't send me away. I know I've done a terrible
thing, but please let me stay with you."
Her statement caught him by surprise. "Why would I send you away,
A'maelamin?" He laid down beside her and took her in his
arms. "You have done nothing! Do not take the blame for Haldir's
actions upon yourself."
Tears were still streaming down her face. Oh how it hurt him to see
her cry like this!
"Legolas, I didn't... I..." She closed her eyes before trying to
continue. "I...should have stopped him."
Legolas simply held her tighter. Now he understood. Guilt surged
thru him. " A'maelamin, if only I could love you that
way this would never have happened. How could you resist when you have
never known such things. No, this is my fault. I should never
have let you talk me into marrying you. You should be wed to someone
who can fulfill your every desire."
"NO!" The emotion in her voice shocked him. He looked
at her, puzzled.
"Legolas, you know how much I love you. If you had not married
me, I would have pursued you to the ends of Middle Earth until you gave in.
There is no one else in this world who could fulfill any
of my desires. What happened tonight was not love. I only love
you, A'maelamin."
He didn't know what to say. She desired him. She loved him.
He could never show her the love he knew she needed. Could never fulfill
the desire that burned in the depths of her eyes.
Softly, gently, he kissed her. She couldn't keep her body from responding.
Not now. Not after...
With a sigh of regret, Legolas broke the kiss. Laying entwined in her
arms, he buried his face in her neck and cried. Cried for the
love that he had. The love he couldn't return. The love he wished,
with great guilt, Haldir had never awoken in his beloved wife.
Chapter 7:
Before dawn, while Isilwen still slept, Legolas quietly slipped from their
room. Swiftly, he went down the hall to Aragorn's room and knocked.
"Aragorn?"
The door was opened almost immediately. Something told Legolas that
Aragorn had been waiting for him.
"How is Isilwen?"
"She still sleeps."
Legolas' anger was palpable, a physical presence. Aragorn waited quietly
for his lover to speak his thoughts, while Legolas paced around the room,
resembling a caged panther.
"I want to kill him!" Legolas finally spat out, fists clenched.
"Not only did he force himself upon her, he seduced her until she could
no longer help herself. Aragorn, she feels so much guilt. She
thought I would send her away last night. And her tears were like daggers
in my heart. Aragorn, I want him to hurt! I want him to feel her
pain!"
"What will you do?" Aragorn's voice was quiet, but his vision
was clouded red. He knew very well what he would do, if it were Arwen.
What he wanted to do now when it was Isilwen. Haldir would never see
Lothlorien again if it were up to him.
Leaning against the window sill, staring out into the still dark gardens,
Legolas thought. What would he do? How could he make Haldir suffer
as Isilwen suffered? What possible punishment would be fitting for something
so heinous? As he turned to look at Aragorn, a thought struck him.
Haldir had forced Isilwen to enjoy intimacy with a man. He could do
the same to Haldir. But would Aragorn understand?
"Aragorn, I must ask you something." Aragorn could see the turmoil
in Legolas' eyes. "You know you can always ask anything of me,"
he replied.
"Would you hate me if I did something terrible? Not kill him, of
course, but instead made him suffer as Isilwen suffers?"
It took a moment for Aragorn to realize what Legolas was asking. "You
mean...force him?"
"Yes. Force him to enjoy intimacy with a man....with me.
Make him suffer as she suffers. Force him to live with the knowledge
of what he truly did to her."
"No, Legolas, I would not hate you. I would much rather help you."
As the dawn began to paint the sky in bright colors, Legolas and Aragorn discussed
Haldir's punishment.
Chapter 8:
It was late in the morning when Isilwen finally awoke. Her eyes felt
as though they had been filled with sand as she slept. She had cried
for a long time in Legolas' arms. And he had cried too. They had
told each other over and over how much they loved each other. Her heart
had broken anew each time Legolas had told her that this was all his fault
for not loving her enough. She had finally fallen asleep entwined in
his arms. Now as she came fully awake, she realised he was still there
with her. She turned to find him watching her.
"Good morning, my love. How are you feeling?" His voice
was soothing, as his hand reached up to brush the hair back from her face.
"I feel much better this morning, beloved, because you are still here
with me."
" Isilwen, I will always be with you. I will never leave you, I
swear." Gently he kissed her forehead. " Amin
mela lle." ("I love you.")
"And I love you, my sweet Legolas." She snuggled closer to
him, laying her head on his chest, feeling his heart beat and his warm breath
on her hair. The night's demons still howled in a remote corner of her
mind, but their howls were growing fainter.
They spent the day together secluded in their room. Isilwen had no wish
to see anyone, and was fearful of running into Haldir. Legolas wanted
to stay beside her, comfort her, reassure her of his love.
Just after sunset, which they watched from their terrace, Aragorn came to
see them. Taking both her hands in his, he smiled down at her.
"Lovely Isilwen, I am glad to see that you are feeling better."
He kissed her cheek and clasped both her hands to his chest, looking deeply
into her dark eyes. Words failed her as she saw the concern and caring
in his eyes. They stood thus for some time. Then suddenly he released
her hands and wrapped her in a tight embrace. Once again, tears began
to flow down her cheeks.
"Oh, Aragorn. I am so thankful that you are here," she sobbed
into his chest.
When Isilwen's sobs had subsided a few minutes later, Aragorn released her.
Legolas took her face in his hands, wiping her tears away with his thumbs
and kissing her softly.
" Isilwen, may I steal Legolas away for a few hours? A band of
orcs has just been spotted near the borders of Imladris, and I need his sharp
eyes to help me track them. I promise it will not take longer than tonight,
and I will have him back before the dawn."
It was a lie. The lie he and Legolas had decided to use in order to
cover their actions this night. They intended to use the same lie to
lure Haldir into the wild with them. If Legolas were somehow injured
in the struggle with Haldir it would be attributed to an orc attack.
If Haldir forced a fight and lost, it would also be attributed to the orc
attack.
Isilwen was uneasy. She saw anger in their eyes that was very different
from the look they usually wore when tracking orcs. With a flash of
premonition, she knew what their true intentions were. Still, she knew
she could not stop it, could not stop her husband from exacting some kind
of revenge. And she knew he would be safer with Aragorn than by himself.
With a heavy sigh, she replied, "Yes, you should both go. I will
await your return. Please, I beg you both, be careful."
They both kissed her cheeks and disappeared into the night.
Chapter 9:
It had been easier than Legolas and Aragorn expected to lure Haldir out with
them. His hatred of orcs ran deep. Living in Lorien, so close
to the entrance of Moria, orcs were a constant threat. Hearing that
a band of them had been seen nearby, he had grabbed his bow, quiver, and knives
in seconds and followed them to the stables. He hadn't even questioned
why it was just the three of them tracking the orc band. Legolas' skill
with a bow was legendary, as was Aragorn's skill as a Ranger. Haldir
knew himself to be one of the best, if not the best archer in Lothlorien.
The three of them would make short work of the orcs without any other assistance.
They rode hard for over an hour. Suddenly Aragorn pulled up, signaling
the others to do so as well. Listening to the night sounds, he knew
they were far enough away from Rivendell to be undisturbed for several hours.
And far enough away that no sound would carry back to alert anyone to the
proceedings which would shortly get under way. He dismounted, and the
others followed, silently. Tethering their horses to a nearby tree,
they stealthily crept forward, Aragorn and Legolas keeping up the charade
of tracking the imaginary orcs. Aragorn led them to a clearing, filled
with the light of the full moon. He carried his sword, appearing to
be ready to skewer an orc. Legolas' knives were in his hands, as were
Haldir's. Suddenly, without sound or warning, Aragorn's sword and Legolas'
knives surrounded Haldir.
"Drop your weapons. Or die. I care not which."
Legolas' voice was filled with venom.
Slowly, Haldir dropped both knives, then unbelted his quiver and bow, letting
them fall to join the knives.
"I will go keep watch, Legolas," Aragorn said, dropping the point
of his sword and walking back the way they had come.
Legolas' eyes burned with hatred as he still held his knives to Haldir's throat.
"You will pay for what you did to Isilwen, Haldir. You shall not
leave this clearing unscathed this night. As you must realize, we are
far from the dwellings of Rivendell, far enough that no one but Aragorn and
I will hear you if you try to cry out for help. And I would advise you
not to attempt to escape. For in the unlikely event that you did escape
from me, you would still have Aragorn to deal with, and he does not totally
agree with the punishment I have chosen for you. Nay, he would prefer
to impale you on his sword. But, no, I do not wish to give you the easy
escape of death. I have something much more fitting in mind for you.
I want you to live after this night. Live forever with the knowledge
that you hurt her. Live forever feeling everything she feels. The fear,
anger, guilt, and shame that she will never forget. I do not want you
to forget, either."
Desperately trying to keep his voice even, Haldir asked, "What do you
plan to do to me, Legolas?"
Legolas smiled. A most evil smile. "I am going to make love
to you, Haldir. Make your body burn for my touch. Make you beg
for release. I am going to rape you as slowly and gently as you forced her.
I want you to live forever with the knowledge that I forced you. Forced
you to enjoy physical love, unwillingly, at my hands. Just as she will
live forever with the knowledge that you forced her."
"Disrobe. Now!" Moving his knives away from Haldir's
throat, Legolas watched as each garment was removed and dropped to the ground
to rest with the weapons.
Haldir stopped at the fastenings to his leggings. He looked up at Legolas,
pleading with his eyes, but his mouth wouldn't form the words. He was
more terrifed than he'd ever been in his life. He couldn't go any further.
Could not willingly reveal his body to Legolas. He never doubted that
Legolas would go thru with everything he'd said. Did not doubt that
Aragorn was close enough to lend assistance to Legolas if necessary. He just
couldn't do it willingly. His hands were shaking as they hung at his
sides.
In the moonlight, Legolas watched Haldir's face as he undressed. Watched
him grow pale. Watched the terror build in his eyes. When Haldir
paused, Legolas arched an eybrow. "Feeling shy, Haldir? You
weren't shy last night. Why should it be any different with me than
it was with her?"
Haldir's voice still eluded him.
"No matter. We have all night to cure you of your shyness.
Now, lay down on your back, with your hands above your head."
Haldir did as he was told. Legolas straddled Haldir's chest, sheathing
one knife, while holding the other at Haldir's throat.
" Isilwen was no match for your strength. You had no need to bind
her. You and I are, however, more evenly matched. I will bind
your hands together to this tree. Do not struggle. Do not even
move, or blood will be spilled this night."
Again, Haldir did as Legolas demanded, laying perfectly still as Legolas roughly
bound his wrists, then forced his arms back over his head. When Legolas
rose to tie the rope to the tree, Haldir didn't even dare to breath.
Legolas returned to Haldir's side, standing over him emptyhanded. Slowly,
he undid the belts holding his weapons, and laid them on the ground near Haldir's
head, where they would be within easy reach if the situation demanded it.
Moving slowly still, he removed his clothes, until he stood naked before Haldir's
fearful gaze. Laying down next to him, Legolas lightly stroked Haldir's
chest.
"You see, Haldir, I can be just as gentle as you were."
Haldir closed his eyes against the sight of lust in Legolas' eyes. He
didn't want to do this. Couldn't bear to watch. He had to try
to block these events out. He needed to will himself into oblivion,
escape from what was really happening.
Legolas slapped his face, hard. "You will watch, Haldir.
You will see and feel everything. You will look straight into my eyes
until I give you permission to look away."
Haldir met Legolas' gaze, defeat clear in his bright blue eyes.
"That's better."
Legolas planted his mouth firmly over Haldir's. His tongue flicked over
Haldir's lips, his teeth nipping now and then, as his hand continued its exploration
of Haldir's body. Taking a nipple firmly between his fingers, he squeezed,
causing Haldir to cry out, allowing his tongue entrance. Legolas continued
the kiss until Haldir responded, their tongues entwining. Without
breaking the kiss, Legolas changed his position, moving his body on top of
Haldir's. Slowly, Legolas moved his hips against him, letting Haldir
feel Legolas' budding erection.
As Haldir felt Legolas move against him, a momentary thrill coursed thru his
loins. His body began to betray him. He began to respond to Legolas'
kiss, to the feel of their bodies against each other. He gasped as Legolas
broke the kiss. Legolas' hands were hot on his chest, teasing his nipples,
tracing circles on his ribs. As Legolas began kissing his neck, Haldir's
eyes fluttered closed, and he moaned.
Legolas traced a line with his tongue, from Haldir's neck down to his chest,
where he licked and sucked at Haldir's sensitive nipples. Legolas felt
deep satisfaction every time the elf beneath him moaned. Moving his
hands lower, Legolas began removing Haldir's leggings. Haldir froze
momentarily. Legolas moved to kiss Haldir's mouth, and Haldir relaxed
again beneath him. Without breaking the kiss, Legolas pushed Haldir's
leggings down from his hips, and felt Haldir's erection as it was released
from the confinement of his clothes. Again trailing a string of kisses
down Haldir's chest, Legolas removed the leggings completely, then took Haldir
forcefully in his mouth. Haldir's hips bucked at this new sensation,
as Legolas began sucking his erection, teasing his testicles with gentle squeezes.
Haldir was moaning in ecstasy. He knew he was nearing his peak, and
it felt more wonderful than he had ever imagined. He gave his body over
to Legolas...stopped thinking about where he was and who he was with.
When he finally went over the edge of passion, he cried out Legolas' name.
As Haldir's passion poured forth, Legolas' hand replaced his mouth on Haldir's
shaft momentarily. Returning his mouth to Haldir, Legolas took him further
over the edge with his tongue. As Haldir's spasms subsided, Legolas
used his now wet fingers to probe for Haldir's sensitive spot. He was
soon rewarded by the grinding of Haldir's hips against his hand. Using
the rest of the wetness on his hand, Legolas lubricated his own erection,
then grabbed Haldir's hips to steady himself. Slowly he pushed his way
into Haldir, until he felt the elf relax around him. He began thrusting
against Haldir, positioning himself to hit that perfect spot with each thrust.
As he neared his own release, Legolas wrapped his fingers around Haldir's
shaft, stroking with the same rhythm, until Haldir tightened around him, bringing
them both to the heights of their passion at almost the same moment.
Spent, Legolas rolled off of Haldir and laid on the ground until his breathing
returned to normal.
Silently Legolas dressed. Picking up his knife, he cut Haldir free,
and watched as Haldir dressed. Neither of them spoke as they walked
back to the horses. Aragorn was waiting, sword drawn. When he
saw them, he returned the sword to its sheath. Without a word, they
mounted their horses and rode back to Rivendell.
Chapter 10:
Isilwen couldn't sit still. She couldn't focus on anything except the
look she had seen in Legolas' eyes when he'd kissed her goodbye. She
was relatively certain that there were no orcs anywhere near Imladris' borders.
Nay, her husband and his lover were hunting something else this night.
That something was surely Haldir. As she paced around the room, she
looked, if she had known it, quite like Legolas had looked that morning to
Aragorn...much like a caged panther. In desperate need of something
to occupy her mind other than the wherabouts and escapades of her husband,
she went in search of Bilbo. The esteemed Mr. Baggins was not in his
room. A passing elf let it be known that the hobbit was entertaining
once again in the Hall of Fire.
In the Hall, Isilwen saw Bilbo sitting in a quiet corner. Grateful that
he wasn't surrounded by the crowd that usually followed him in the Hall, she
made her way to him.
"Bilbo, may I join you?"
" Isilwen! ", he exclaimed, jumping to his feet, "I'd be delighted!
Here, sit down. Would you like some wine?"
" No, thank you, dear Bilbo. I simply feel the need for company,
and Legolas has gone hunting with Aragorn."
"Is something wrong, dear?" Bilbo asked , concern etched across
his sweet face.
"Oh, no, nothing is wrong. I would just like to hear some of your
poetry, if you don't mind." She knew full well that Bilbo never
minded sharing anything he had written.
As Bilbo sang a song about baths and beer, Isilwen allowed herself to put
aside thoughts of the past few days, and let herself be swept away in laughter.
It was there that Legolas found her several hours later. He stood watching
her for a long time, watching her laugh with the old hobbit. He loved
to see her laugh. He loved the way her eyes caught the firelight, the
way they sparkled. He loved her more than life itself. A wave
of guilt swept over him as he thought about what he had done this night.
He had wanted revenge, but revenge had not been sweet. He didn't feel
any better now than he had this morning. Nay, he felt worse.
Isilwen felt someone watching her. She looked up to see Legolas standing
just inside the doorway. Bilbo followed her gaze. "Ah, he's
back!" Standing, he called, " Legolas, come join us!"
Isilwen saw him smile as he walked toward them. "Hello, Bilbo.
Have you been keeping my little Isilwen safe this evening?"
"Well, yes I have. You were off hunting with Aragorn and she needed
some company, don't you know." Bilbo said with mock indignation.
"Now that you have returned, I suppose you will want to keep her all
to yourself."
Legolas sat down next to Isilwen, putting his arm around her. "No,
dear Bilbo, I shall continue to share her exquisite company with you."
It was much later that they finally left the company of the sweet hobbit,
and made their way back to their room.
Chapter 11:
The next afternoon, Isilwen and Legolas were on their way outside, to take
a walk along the river. As they walked toward the doors to the gardens,
a figure came around the corner. It was Haldir. Instinctively,
Legolas put his arm out in front of Isilwen in a protective gesture.
Haldir spoke first. "I wish to speak to Isilwen for a moment.
I swear to you, Legolas, that I do not wish to hurt her, anymore than I already
have. Please."
Legolas looked at Isilwen, concern clear in his deep blue eyes.
"It's alright, Legolas. I'll be fine."
Haldir gestured to a room nearby. As Legolas made to follow her, she
turned and laid a hand on his chest. "No, my love. Let us
talk alone." His eyes looked deep into hers, trying with all his
might to will his strength to her. He spoke softly, "I will be
right outside the door, Melamin."
Haldir waited for Isilwen to enter the room, then turned and closed the door
gently. For a long moment they stood, looking into each other's eyes.
Again, Haldir was the first to speak.
"Please sit down. This is not easy for me, as I have no wish to
hurt you further. But this must be said."
She sat on the edge of the nearest chair, and Haldir moved to stand in front
of her.
"I have done a most grievous and unforgivable thing to you. I do
not ask for your forgiveness. I am, however, deeply and truly sorry."
Suddenly, he fell to his knees at her feet, sobbing.
"I have no excuses. I do not know what drove me that night.
I could not stop myself. I needed you, needed to be one with you.
I love you."
Something inside of her broke. The fear and hurt, the shame and guilt
she felt, welled up inside her like the rising tide of the sea, breaking on
the shore and washing back out and away. She slid to her knees in front
of him, crying.
He wasn't looking at her. He couldn't.
She took his face in her hands, and gently raised his head until their eyes
met.
"Haldir, I forgive you."
His hands came up and rested gently on her arms, but he didn't try to move
her hands.
"How can you forgive me? I raped you. ", he choked, sobbing
uncontrollably.
The door opened quietly. Legolas entered, closing the door behind himself.
There were tears in his eyes. His guilt was overwhelming. He had
to at least try to make amends, as he knew Haldir was doing.
"Haldir, I beg for your forgiveness."
Haldir started like a frightened bird, and his tear-filled eyes looked up
at Legolas with an expression of surprise, and fear.
"Legolas, no! Say no more! You were justified and I would
not have you speak of this in front of Isilwen! Please!" Tears
were streaming down his face. Down all their faces.
Isilwen looked up questioningly at Legolas, and softly whispered, "What
did you do, my love?"
Legolas dropped to his knees beside them, but before he could speak, Haldir
said, "He avenged your honour." His eyes never left Legolas'
face as he spoke.
Legolas took Isilwen's hand in one of his own, and Haldir's in the other.
Closing his eyes to avoid seeing Isilwen's reaction to his words, he said
softly, "Last night I did the same thing to Haldir that he did to you.
I forced him to enjoy physical contact...with me. I wanted him to feel
all the pain you were feeling." He paused. "Please forgive
me, Melamin."
He opened his eyes, expecting to see horror, rejection, or revulsion in her
eyes. What he saw was sadness....and love.
"He was justified," said Haldir vehemently, looking back to Isilwen.
"I deserved no less." Turning to Legolas, he said, "There
is nothing to forgive. You did what you did out of your love for her."
Without knowing why, or where the feeling came from, Isilwen had to choke
back a humourless laugh. She shook her head in a gesture of disbelieving.
"Love!? Look at us! What have we done? We have nearly
destroyed each other. All in the name of love!"
Legolas and Haldir both stared at her. Legolas' voice betrayed his astonishment,
"But, Isilwen, you have done nothing!"
"My love, do you truly believe that I knew nothing of your intentions
last night? Orcs ? There were no orcs. I knew who
your real prey was. I knew you would not kill Haldir, but I knew you
would defend my honour in a grievous way. I chose to look the other
way, pretending to believe your story, letting you go with Aragorn, staying
in the Hall of Fire with Bilbo, listening to funny songs of the Shire, while
you, my beloved husband, did something so terrible, and against your nature,
that it could destroy you! All in the name of love!"
Looking into Haldir's eyes, she went on, "For yes, Haldir, Legolas loves
me. In a way you may not understand, but love nonetheless."
Turning back to Legolas, she quietly continued, " Haldir's intentions
were not evil, but I knew something evil would happen that night. Yet
I went with him. I am not guiltless, I know this."
Silence followed her words as they stared at each other. Isilwen broke
it. Looking at Haldir, she said, "In the name of love, you forced
yourself upon me physically." Turning to Legolas, she said, "In
the name of love you forced yourself upon him physically, to make him feel
the way I do. In the name of love, I did not question your doings, yet
I knew more evil would occur. In the name of love, we have each committed
grievous sins."
Silence surrounded them, broken only by the sound of the breeze stirring in
the trees outside the open window. None of them dared to look the others
in the eye.
Quietly, Haldir rose. "I will be leaving in the morning."
Legolas helped Isilwen up. Again, they each took one of Haldir's hands
in their's.
Isilwen looked into Haldir's eyes, and saw the guilt he couldn't hide.
Looking at her husband, she saw the same guilt. None of them would be
the same now. Life would be immensely different for each of them.
"I forgive you both , " she said, squeezing their hands. "Can
you forgive yourselves?"
"No." They both whispered the word at the same time.
Smiling sadly, she squeezed their hands. "I doubt I can forgive
myself either."
Chapter 12: Epilogue
On a clear summer's evening, Legolas and Isilwen were standing on their terrace.
They would be leaving Rivendell in the morning to return to Mirkwood.
As they stood, wrapped in each other's arms, Isilwen asked Legolas a question
that had haunted her ever since that night with Haldir.
"Legolas, will you do something for me?"
" Anything, my love."
"Will you kiss me like you kiss Aragorn?"
He looked startled, and in his eyes there was a flash of pain. "You
know I cannot."
"Please? Just try? Close your eyes and pretend you are kissing
him." Her voice was calm, but he saw the pleading in her eyes.
He bent down and softly brushed her lips with his own. He broke free
from her embracing arms and turned away. "Why do you ask this of
me?"
Before she could speak, Aragorn sprang over the railing and grabbed Legolas
by the shoulders, shaking him.
"Do you love her? If so, you will do as she asks. If not,
send her to Haldir!" Aragorn's voice shook with rage. Both
Legolas and Isilwen were stunned. Never before had either of them seen
Aragorn so angry. In a quieter, softer voice he said, "If
you truly love her, worship her with your body as well as your heart."
"But Aragorn, you know I cannot."
"You can! You've just never tried!" he said angrily.
Pushing Legolas away, he turned to Isilwen. Gently he took her hands
in his and looked into her eyes. Softly he whispered, "Please trust
me." She looked up and replied, "I have always done so, Aragorn."
Smiling, he took her face in his hands, and said in a slightly louder voice,
still looking deeply into Isilwen's eyes, "Sometimes he needs to see
things before he truly understands." As a smile worked its way
across her face, he pulled her closer, tilting his head. His lips found
hers with a gentle kiss. His tongue gently slid across her lips and
her mouth opened almost involuntarily. Their tongues gently explored
each other as his hands changed positions, one resting on the small of her
back, and the other curling into her hair where it fell down the back of her
neck. Her arms came up around his back, pulling him closer. When
Aragorn withdrew, Isilwen was left breathless and flushed. Legolas had
walked around them as they kissed, but she hadn't heard a sound. Aragorn
was still smiling as he swooped her up in his arms.
"What are you doing, Aragorn?" Legolas' voice was almost angry...almost.
Never taking his eyes from Isilwen's, Aragorn replied, as he laid Isilwen
gently on the bed, "What you say you are not capable of...worshiping
her in body and heart." Isilwen, too, was smiling. Something
told her Aragorn would not really continue, but a part of her was aching for
him to.
Legolas grabbed Aragorn's arm and shouted, "NO! I won't let you
do this!"
Aragorn turned to face his angry friend. "And what will you do
Legolas? Will you leave her here, breathless with desire, yet unfulfilled
because you think yourself incapable of loving her physically?"
Legolas looked from Aragorn to Isilwen, his face a twisted mask of battling
emotions.
Quietly, Aragorn said, "Legolas, gender matters not if you truly love
her."
With a smiling wink to Isilwen, that Legolas could not see, Aragorn left the
room.
Isilwen moved to the side to make room for Legolas, and patted the bed beside
her. " Come, lay here with me, A'maelamin."
Legolas sat on the bed, slowly removed his boots, then stretched out beside
her, facing her, his head propped on one hand, while his other hand traced
the line of her jaw. She looked up at him, her eyes telling him silently
that she loved him, needed him.
Never taking his eyes from hers, he said, "I have never been so jealous,
as I was just now. I am feeling quite confused."
Reaching up and cupping his cheek in her hand, she replied, "Legolas,
my love, I have shared you with Aragorn for quite some time. Why should
you feel jealous?"
His voice shook with emotion. "Because I cannot stand the thought
of sharing you with anyone. You are mine."
Leaning over, he kissed her tentatively. Her lips parted, and her tongue
darted out to tickle his lips. His lips parted allowing her tongue entrance.
She kissed him deeply, just as Aragorn had kissed her...just as Haldir had
kissed her....just as she had always wanted to kiss Legolas. His arms
went around her, drawing her close, as the kiss consumed him. Her fragrance,
her taste, her softness, overwhelming him. Her hands undid the buttons
of his tunic and slipped inside, gently fluttering over his chest. He
gasped, and pulled her closer. His fingers fumbled with the lacings
of her dress. She pulled away, whispering, "One moment, my love."
He watched as she stood and removed her dress and undergarments, until she
stood naked before him. He had seen her naked many times, of course,
but tonight he felt he was seeing her for the first time. She laid back
on the bed and kissed him. His arms encircled her, holding her close,
as he let the feel of her wash over him. Again, she pulled away from
him, and he moaned softly, "Come back." Smiling, she whispered,
"Not until you remove your clothes, Melamin. I want to
feel your skin against mine." Standing, he hurried to do her bidding,
wanting desperately to feel her against him again.
As he removed his leggings, his desire became evident to both of them.
He looked at her, surprise written all over his face. He took her in
his arms as he laid back on the bed, and whispered, " A'maelamin,
what spell have you bewitched me with? I have never felt such desire
as I feel now with you."
" A'maelamin, it is but the spell of love."
Her arms went around his neck, pulling his mouth to hers. His hands
explored her body completely, for the first time, his fingers caressing her,
his tongue tasting her. With trembling hands, she made the same exploration
of his body, caressing, touching, feeling. Their mouths explored each
other as the heat of their passion intensified. When they reached the
ultimate heights of ecstasy, their bodies became one, moving with the same
rhythm, as their passion exploded around them.
Still entwined in his beloved's arms, Legolas raised his head to look into
Isilwen's eyes. He saw her love and passion still smouldering there.
He kissed her again.
" A'maelamin, you will never again have to share me with anyone.
From this night forth, I bind myself only to you."
Tears welled up in her eyes.
" A'maelamin, I bind myself to you, again, now and forever more."
