---
Liv had the hiccups. Not gentle, lady-like hiccups. No, great roiling ones
that shook her whole ribcage and interrupted every sentence. She felt rotten.
Not only had she disrupted the entire mornings filming - the whole cast and
most of the crew was clustered around her trying to come up with ways to cure
her affliction - but she couldn't breathe. Her stomache was starting to hurt.
Abover all, she was frustrated.
"How about a glass of water?"
"How original, Orlando. Nobody had thought of that. You mus*hic* must be a damn geni*hic* DAMN!"
She was going to cry. Liv hated having the hiccups more than anything else in the world. They were just so damned INFURIATING! She sat down suddenly, in a puddle of expensive gown and miserable actress, and buried her face in her hands, shoulders heaving every few seconds as another great hiccup shook her.
Everyone looked on in amazement. To see the usually cool and poised Liv losing control like this was unusal, to say the very least. Plus, most of them were feeling bad that they couldn't think of anything to help.
"Has anyone tried the old surprise angle?" asked Miranda.
"Yes. And of course, discussing it first rea*hic* really helps," came Liv's muffled voice.
Miranda looked at her, head tilted to one side pensively. She knelt down in front of the huddled form, and reached out a slender hand to cup Liv's cheek. The face that looked back at her was tear streaked and miserable. She brushed a tear off Liv's cheek and smiled. Then she kissed her. Hard.
Liv froze. Miranda's lips were soft and supple, and tasted faintly of lipstick. Her hand slid around to the back of Liv's neck and tangled in her hair, holding her gently but firmly. Her tongue was hot and hard as it demanded entry to Liv's mouth, and she smelt of grass.
The moment seemed to the onlookers to last forever, but then Miranda pulled back, and looked at Liv. Shocked eyes looked back at her. Liv was wordless. Everyone was. Everyone but Miranda.
"Surprise you, did I? I don't hear you hiccuping any more." She smiled and stood up, and walked away, leaving behind her a host of confused actors. Liv blinked. Miranda was right, she certainly wasn't hiccupping any more.
A few yards away, her back to the scene, Miranda allowed herself
a small smile. For she now knew something that no-one else did. She had been
the only one close enough to hear Liv's small, almost inaudible moan, to feel
her heart beating faster, and she was certain that, for just a moment, Liv's
lips had softened and parted under her own. This was going to be interesting.
Oh yes, this was going to be very interesting indeed.
