Then they both felt it. The connection for the two of them was overwhelming. It was like a hook that would keep them together for all eternity. They pushed this feeling aside for now. Legolas wanted to know what made his love cry when he entered the room but he would wait for Estel to explain.
They cleaned themselves up and Estel took care of the bed. They both lay down on the bed in each other's arms. They held each other without clothes on. The idea of no clothes was intoxicating to both of them. This was the feeling that they wanted to share forever. Estel was laying partially on top of Legolas with his head on the elf their legs intertwined. He was running his hand over the smooth skin of the elf. Legolas was running his fingers up and down this lovely man's back.
"Mellon, what made you cry when you entered the room?" Legolas asked.
Estel was silent. He didn't want to think about it. He wanted to lay here in his lover's arms and listen to his breathing. Tears rolled down his eyes onto Legolas' chest.
"Come, meleth nín, I want to know. You know you can tell me anything. Len melin (I love you)!" He felt wetness on his chest that said Estel was crying again. He pulled the man closer to him wanting to take away the pain that he could feel in this man.
Estel choked back his tears and started. "I was just in Adar's private quarters when he told me something that you would not believe," he hesitated. "Adar told me that one day I was to become King of Gondor! I couldn't believe what he told me. I looked to Glorfindel for confirmation and he nodded." Just then, Estel sat up in bed. Tears were streaming down his face. He couldn't look at Legolas. He wiped them away. He got out of bed and put on his robe. He couldn't stay there anymore. He needed some air. Getting off the bed, he grabbed his robe and pulled it on making his way to the balcony.
Legolas couldn't believe his ears! How was this man to be King of Gondor? Was there not someone else who could do the job? Not Estel! He also rose and pulled on his robe. He walked up to Estel and placed his arms around his waist from behind. Legolas then put his head on this man's shoulder. He loved the smell of this man. It was exhilarating.
"Do you want to hear something else?" He turned in his lovers arms and looked into his eyes. "He also told me my real name. It's Aragorn! Not Estel! I'm the son of Arathorn!" Tears were streaming down his face again. "After what I was told, I don't even know who I am anymore." He placed his arms around Legolas and cried.
Legolas was soothing his fears. He was stroking Estel's hair. "Now, now! Let it all out. You can stay in my arms forever. I will take the fear and pain away and protect you. My arms will hold you; keep you safe and warm. This bond between us can't be broken. I will be here, don't you cry. It has made us who we are now. You'll be in my heart always. My pain is your pain. We will get through this together." He was trying to calm the man before him. He took him back to the bed and they cuddled together.
Estel was lying with his back on Legolas' chest. This was one feeling that they loved very much. Legolas was playing with his lover's fingers. "Look at me." He brought up Estel's head and looked into his face. "We will get through this together. I will be here for you when you need me. I don't want you to be King of Gondor but if destiny calls you, you must be strong. I will be there for you from this day on. You will never be alone again. Where you go, I go melethron." He placed a small kiss on Estel's nose.
The sobs eased up a bit. "I know you're right. However, what do I do? I don't want to be King of Gondor. I want to live my life free from pain and fighting. I want to spend the rest of my days in your arms. Here in Rivendell." He snuggled closer to Legolas. He loved snuggling up like this to Legolas. It made him feel safe. 'Maybe I will talk to Adar tomorrow. Maybe he can give me some insight on what to do."
As they laid there in each other's arms, something truly and unbelievably happened. The connection between them became more and more enhanced.
Estel's fingers tingled, he could smell cooking from somewhere, and his ears picked up something said in the garden outside their window. He sat up in bed with a jolt.
Legolas' ears got sensitive. He could hear everything better than before. His skin felt hard. Nevertheless, when he pinched it, it felt soft to the touch. He looked out the window. His eyes could see a bird sitting in a nest outside the boundaries of Rivendell realizing that he could see farther than he ever could before.
"Did you feel that?" Estel inquired.
"Yes. It seems we just gathered something from one another. I bet that its part of the bond. We have to search out Glorfindel and Haldir." They both rose and put on clothes.
"We will split up and cover more ground that way," Estel said.
They got to the door and Estel opened it. There stood Glorfindel and Haldir. A surprise look came over Legolas' face.
"We were just going to look for both of you. Come in." Both Estel and Legolas stepped aside and let the warriors pass.
They entered and Glorfindel turned around. "What is it? Has something happened?" Then he saw it. There was a glow around Estel as well. "You completed the bonding, just before your coming of age, Estel. Which I believe is tomorrow. This is great news!" Then he saw something very different. The glow did not stop there. It continued to Legolas who was standing next to him. Estel had a hard time looking at Glorfindel.
"Glorfindel, I think something else has happened," Estel said, not looking at the Eldar elf but at Legolas. "It seems that when we were in each other's arms just now, I felt something, like warmth; go to the bottom of my soul. It dug itself into my chest and went here." He pointed to the center of his chest. "Legolas also felt it too. What is it?"
Glorfindel looked at both of them with piercing eyes. "This is the completion of your bonding. You both needed to love one another to have this achievement. Your souls have entwined each other to complete yourselves. You also needed to confess to each other for the first time. This will bond you to each other forever. Somehow, we are going to have to keep both of you together so that you are never far apart. Too far and it will not be good."
Legolas gasped. Estel looked to Legolas and felt his fear.
"We came here to talk to both of you about your coming of age, Estel. Now that you have confirmed your bonding, we need to prepare you for a ceremony that will take place. Estel, first we will have your coming of age ceremony. Then Lady Galadriel will perform a bonding ceremony. This will bond your souls to each other in view of the Valar," Glorfindel said. He looked at both of them and realized that this was going wrong. "She is the eldest of us all. She is the only one that can perform this bonding of love. It is so that your love for one another will not dwindle with time. This will keep the bond of love between you. Does that make any sense?"
Legolas and Estel looked at Glorfindel and Haldir. They felt a tug at their hearts. They looked at each other and nodded. Each raised an eyebrow.
"I think I understand," Estel said. "How about you?"
"I think I do, yeah," Legolas said.
"Just before the ceremony, Estel, Lord Elrond would like to perform the coming of age ceremony on you. Because Legolas is the age he is, he's an adult already. However, you on the other hand are not. The bonding ceremony will work better if you are an adult. Therefore, Legolas will have to stay back. After that Legolas will come to you before the final ceremony."
Glorfindel sighed. "Alright, Estel will stay here with me and Legolas, you will go with Haldir. We will both get you ready for each other. You will not see each other until tomorrow. Now that you have made love to one another, you have to spend a night away from each other. This will fuse the love."
Legolas didn't want to go. It meant that he was not going to beside his love til the ceremony. "But I can't stay away from my love that long, can I?"
A look of fright came over Estel as Legolas made this statement.
"Yes, you both can," Glorfindel said. "As long as both of you are close to one another, like here in Rivendell, then you will have no fear."
Estel walked over to Legolas and brought his hands to both sides of his face. He kissed him passionately and deeply. He looked into Legolas eyes. He seen all the love he wanted.
Before left Legolas, Estel said, "Go to the field! I will wait for you there." Then he was gone.
Estel went to the door and watched his love leave and said to himself, 'What did that mean?' He watched his love leave him and he went back into the room.

Entering the room that was going to be theirs for the night, Haldir had brought some things with him to prepare for the ceremony. They both talked late into the night. Haldir lay with Legolas in his bed. When he turned to see Legolas beside him, he was crying. His shoulders were shaking uncontrollably. Haldir took him in his arms and held him.
"It's alright. It's only for tonight." He said this while Legolas cried on his shoulder. "This will strengthen your love for each other. Remember what Estel said: something about a field. It seems you have somewhere to be. Is it a safe place for both of you?"
Legolas nodded. "Then all you have to do is believe in that place."
With that, Legolas' sobs subsided and he placed his arm across Haldir's chest, murmuring a thank you and fell asleep.
