Estel stretched out on his bed while the morning brought a cool breeze into the room. Birds chirped outside. Life had never been better. He just had the best night's sleep in years. He swung his legs over the edge of the bed and cramps began in his lower belly and worked their way up to his chest.

"What the..?" he grunted. The pain lasted only a moment.

Estel tried to stand but felt weak and shaky. This morning turned for the worst after that pain. As he went into the closet to get clean clothes to wear for the day, he hoped the pain would be the worst thing that happened to him. He planned to practice archery with Elladan and Elrohir. He admired his foster-brothers' spirit and the way they carried themselves but he could never figure out the grace of these two. Going out into the wild to fight the orcs that plagued this world was out of the question. It was too soon for him. Lord Elrond had told his sons that he was to be kept out of trouble. But then again that was hard for him to do. As he finished his morning routine, there was a knock on the door.

"Come" he said.

The door opened and his servant entered with his breakfast.

"Thank you, Mirgalen. You can straighten up after I'm gone." With that, the servant put his tray on a table on the balcony and left.

He munched on toast and apple juice, grabbed his bow from the corner of the room and headed for the practice fields behind the smithy. He encountered the brethren Elladan and Elrohir who had already started to practice archery. Their skill was legendary with the young elves that were there to learn.

He hurried up to the group. "Have I missed anything, yet?" Estel asked Elladan.

"No, we were all waiting for you," Elladan said.

Another pain washed over Aragorn. He grasped his belly with both arms and fell to the ground. Elrohir rushed up to him , "Estel, what's wrong?"

"I think my stomach as not gotten used to fresh juice in the morning. Can juice go bad?" His knees came up to his chest as another pain struck him.

"Elladan, run and fetch father," Elrohir said, "and hurry."

Elrohir placed Estel's head on his lap and stroked his hair. "What's happening?"

Master Elrond strode up with the head healer of his house in tow. The healer went to Estel and checked him out His eyes were clear, skin looked good, but there was a tender spot on his chest. Elrond told the twins to pick him up and bring him to the Houses of Healing.

The healers took off Estel's clothes, dressed him in a nightshirt, and placed him in a bed.

Pulling the covers snugly around the boy, the healer asked his Lord, "Has this happened before?"

"Yes, before I got out of bed this morning." Four heads turned at the answer that came from the bed. "But it passed quickly that time." He grabbed his mid section as another pain wracked his body.

"Elladan," Elrohir said, "let's go back to the field and finish up with the training. Adar, you will let us know what is wrong with him, won't you?"

"Yes, I will." Elrond looked back to the bed and helped the healer try to figure out what this was all about.
