When everything feels like the movies
And you bleed just to know you're alive
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am.

The premier was a grand function. All of them were there: Carrie-Ann, Jada, Keanu, Samuel... It had been fun too, until they sat down and watched the movie.

In the scene of a hundred Mr. Smith's, he began to sweat. It had been hard work and there had been many, many REAL look alikes and there was CGI. He had deliberately not watched any of the dailies because he didn't want to have the rest of the movie affected by this scene. But he had not actually counted on this ...

He felt... unreal, as if the sheer numbers on the screen diminished him. After a few minutes, he didn't even know if he was even there. He made the mistake of trying to keep up with the *real* Mr. Smith.

His heart began to pound and he looked around. Everyone else seemed rather normal and no one seemed to notice his discomfort. He loosened his shirt collar...it was too hot in the theater. He sat there a few more minutes and finally decided that if he didn't get out and calm himself, he wasn't sure what would happen.

The street was lit up like daylight and celebrity watchers were all over. Fortunately, not a soul recognized him. He hailed a taxi and was surprised when he started to get into the one that stopped, that there was someone in the back seat already.

He pulled back to wait for the next one when a familiar voice said, "Get in, my friend."

He looked into the taxi and felt the blood drain from his face.

"No!" He stood, almost bumping his head over the taxi roof in his haste to back out.

"Come take a ride with me. I assure you that you will be safe."

Hugo decided he must be having some sort of delusion seizure. He had taken his medicines though. Despite all the globetrotting he had been doing recently, he never missed his medication. But this was NOT happening. It simply could not be.

He turned to go back into the theater but he didn't go back in. He stopped dead in his tracks and turned back around. The delusion smiled at him, a smile that was too familiar to ignore.

"Ride with me?"

Hugo relented and got into the car. There had to be some logical explanation, but he was fucked if he knew what it could be. He looked straight ahead, not daring to look at the person beside him, not saying anything at all.

They drove all over Manhattan, finally driving down to Soho and stopping in front of a plain, rather rundown little building.

"Come with me."

Hugo decided that he was already this far in. He had to find out what the joke was, what the punch line was. The other man opened the door to an apartment and motioned Hugo inside. He was nervous about going first. Who was he kidding? He was nervous about the whole thing.

There was already a small lamp on in the small den of the apartment. Lord Elrond took his leather jacket and laid it on a wooden rocker.

"Welcome, Hugo. I know you must be confused."

Hugo laughed, a harsh sound. Confused? He felt like he was *in* the Matrix. Elrond motioned him to the sofa. He sat down gingerly, as if it might bite him, making sure to sit only on the very edge.

Elrond sat on the other end.

The silence was deafening, Hugo thought.

"Please tell me what is happening to me." He looked into grey eyes and felt ...he had no idea what he felt. Then it hit him what he did feel. He felt real. His hallucination was the only thing that had felt real all night long. In those grey eyes, he saw himself.

He reached a hand out and touched Elrond's face. It was smooth, not the face of a man in a costume. It had never grown a beard, that much he could tell. It was a masculine face with hard planes and lines that showed wear and tear even though it was also a bit of a timeless face. He felt an urge to touch it with his lips.

"May I kiss you?"

An eyebrow shot up and one corner of the elf's mouth quirked into an amused smile.

"You want to kiss me?"

Hugo simply nodded. He couldn't offer much in the way of an explanation. He wanted to feel that smooth face, those soft lips under his own. It wasn't sexual. He needed to feel alive. He needed to feel like more than a face on a movie screen that looked like 100 more faces in the same screen.

He leaned close and let his lips touch those of Elrond and in that moment, he knew that the elf was real, was not a mirage or dream. He was flesh and blood and he was here for him.

He pulled away and looked at Elrond.

"Why are you here?"

"Celeborn told me you all ask that a lot."

Hugo blinked. Celeborn? Did he mean that there were more of them? Who did Celeborn go see? Marton? He couldn't even fathom Marton and Celeborn. He shook his head as if to clear it.

"I'm having a hard time comprehending that you are real. Don't confuse me with more than I can handle."

Elrond smiled at him. "Very well."

"But I still do want to know why you are here."

"I knew that at some time, you would need me. You would lose Hugo in the faces on the screen and you'd need me. I know what it is to lose yourself. I have been many things to many people and forgot who I was in the process. I came to ..."

"To what?"

A long graceful hand touched his face.

"To make sure neither of us is lost."

They kissed then, seemingly in mutual agreement that it was a good idea. It was a tender kiss, not what Hugo would have expected exactly but he liked it. When Elrond made to pull away, Hugo deepened the kiss, upping the ante as it were. He pulled back and looked into those gray eyes.

"How do we do that?"

"We hold on to one another until our feet touch the bottom again."

"Yes," was Hugo's only reply.

Elrond stood and reached for his hand. Hugo felt himself blush as he stood and followed him to the bedroom. The room was lit with oil lamps and candles and he could smell sandalwood incense.

"I don't us-," Hugo began.

And Elrond finished, "-ually do this? Nor do I, but you are special. Now stop talking and come to bed. We have much to do and little time."

They slowly, reverently removed one another's clothing, pausing to caress and kiss on the journey. They lay down facing one another and began to kiss again. Hugo was amazed that touching Elrond was so like touching his own body. There were subtle differences and there were obvious ones too, but there more similarities in muscles and bones. They even had some of the same erogenous places. The back of a knee... the hollow of a throat... the juncture of thigh and hip...

Hugo moaned as Elrond found one of the more obvious pleasure centers with the tip of his tongue, running around the human's swollen head and gathering salty sweet drops of dewy precome before slipping that same tongue tip into the little slit for more.

"How will this help?" Hugo managed to say in between gasps and moans.

Elrond smiled up at him. "Do you feel real now? Sometimes you don't need to bleed to know you're alive."

Elrond took all of him into his mouth at once. Hugo stopped breathing at all for a few seconds. Yes, he was real... so real that it was almost painful. He raised his hips, offering more of himself to the elf and having Elrond take him all in, his long hair cascading down over Hugo's thighs and belly. The elf coaxed his orgasm from him and exulted in Hugo's unabashed joy as he kissed and licked the human clean of the remnants of his pleasure.

He raised his head and looked at Hugo, who was trying to control his runaway heart and get his breathing regulated. Hugo saw that he wasn't the only one who had needed. He saw it in Elrond's eyes and his long, graceful body. He rolled onto his side, offering himself, wanting to give the elf something worth giving and hoping what he offered was just that.

Elrond poured sweet oil into his hand and rubbed his arousal in one hand while the other sought Hugo's opening, lying behind him, pressing his erection against the oily cleft of his ass. He pressed until Hugo relaxed enough to grant him entrance then slipped slowly inside in one long slow glide.

"You are perfect," he whispered as he put his hands on Hugo's hips and began to move, pulling the actor back to meet his thrusts.

Hugo moaned at the feeling of Elrond inside him, filling him so completely. He shivered as Elrond kissed his shoulder and the back of his neck. He didn't understand the elvish that the elf murmured but the vibrations felt like a soft purr against his skin. He almost jumped out of his skin when the elf hit the little bundle inside that sent him soaring.

He could feel the smile against his skin as Elrond's breath hitched and he pushed hard once and again and then remained inside as he filled Hugo with his warm essence. Hugo came into his hand a moment later, this time a
gentle pleasure that seemed almost an afterthought to the elf's own orgasm.

They lay there, spooning even after Elrond slipped from him. Neither of them seemed anxious to let go, to emerge from the cocoon they had made together this night. Hugo still wondered if it were real as he drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

He awoke alone, but then it was all a dream. Right? He opened his eyes to warm light filtering through the dark drapes and looked around the room. He saw the lamps on the dresser, the burned out candles and smelled sandalwood. His clothing had been folded neatly. On top of the neat stack of clothes lay a circlet just like the one he wore in the movies. He picked it up. It was heavier than his had been.

He was surprised at the sting of tears as he looked up into the mirror and saw Hugo. Elrond was right. His feet were touching the bottom again.
