Author's Notes: A metaphysical mishmash though not much of a story.

Summary:The song was love.

At the beginning of all, the song was pure and beautiful and it had wronged no one. It was made of joy and love and the gladness of being. The One sang his children into existence and in them was his song, still filled with light and beauty. He created all for them and all was filled with the same beauty.

But there was the one who became dark, whose song was discordant, the one who lusted and envied and hated enough for all the rest.

But he was not satisfied with his own discontent. He sowed the seeds among the others, among the firstborn. He gave them anger and envy. He gave them lust and hatred. It gladdened his dark heart when they took sword one to the other and killed their own kindred. It gladdened his heart when they spread from Aman to Arda marred and carried their pettiness and greed with them to all of creation. He helped here and there by whispering an ugly rumor or some jealous thought into the innocent ears of the children of earth. He hunted them and made them blame one another for evils he had done.

He did not know that he was being watched. He had no clue that he was loved yet. His father, his maker loved him still, loved him despite all of his faults and all of his evil ways. The One loved him even as he was condemned to be chained until the end of all things. The One cried bitter tears at the downfall of his fair son, his beloved child.

But Ilúvatar loved Melkor still and would love him until all turned to darkness and passed away. The song was love and the song has no ending just as love has no ending.
