Author's Stories

Title/Keeper of: Sweet Legolas' Breathy Sighs, Elrond's Legendary Foul Temper, Aragorn’s Quiet Uncertainty and Glorfindel’s Wild Merry Humor
Age: 43
Gender: F
Relationship Status: 20 happy years with the same gal (whom I’ve known since 1974!)
Home: Beautiful West NJ (minutes away from the solitude of the Pine Barrens)
Occupation: Graphic designer, tech writer, music reviewer, advertising bullshitter and soon to be freelance smut writer (whoo-hooo) and one day, novelist. Look out, Anne Rice (OK, so I am aiming low).
Hobbies: Writing, gardening, European travel, reading like a fiend, my pet house bunnies, tennis, comic books, collecting doujinshi, candlesticks and waaay too much LOTR stuff (but the action figures make such fun shapes with each other although I hate how Elrond looks like he’s gonna bite off Legolas’ nose).
Dislikes: Stupidity, ignorance, bigotry, blind right-wing morons, and pretentious know it all assholes (err, no, never mind...).
Seen LOTR/TTT in cinema how often?: LOTR only once (gasp) TTT 3x, watched the DVDs over and over.

*****

Author's websites / DJ: Although I design the occasional website I’m too busy with everything else to do my own. Saaaad! And if I wrote a daily journey folks would either hire an assassin to kill me or vote for me so I’ll pass.

Favorite Story in Archive: Haven’t posted it yet but I’m ready to if I see more FB for other stuff.

Favorite Character (real/fictional): Errr.... Lawrence of Arabia, Legolas, Elrond, Lucifer, Elizabeth the I... yeah, call me indecisive.

Most hated Character: In LOTR? Saruman. He’s like the George Bush of Middle Earth: wicked, destructive, war-like, mean-spirited and surrounded by evil monsters.

Favorite Movie: Lawrence of Arabia, The Thing (1949 version), The Ruling Class, The English Patient, Elizabeth, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Once I see the third LOTR flick I’ll judge the whole trilogy. Right now I enjoy it and love watching the two movies over and over but each time I see them I find continuity problems, especially in TTT. Major screw-ups during the Rohan scenes. Peter Jackson must have been losing his mind.

Favorite Book: Oh hell... err... ahhh...that changes from month to month since I am a manic reader. I really love “The Vampire Lestat.” “Lost Souls” by Poppy Z. Bright is a brilliant little Goth vampire novel. I could list about 25 more but than that assassin would come after me. If you had asked me in junior high school (1973) I would have said the LOTR trilogy. That was alllll the rage because Robert Plant from Led Zep referenced the books. And every little girl in her right mind thought Robert Plant was pure sex so we read them and enjoyed naughty dreams about manly Aragorn.

How did you come to fan-fiction/slash writing?: I read books by a writer named Gordon Merrick in my first year of college (1978) and fell in love with male/male romance shot through with angst. I started writing my own fics involving musicians and movies stars that I lusted after but I wrote them just for fun. Just what, a little over a year ago I stumbled across this whole new realm and man, talk about feeling like I was home sweet home!!! All those years of scribbling in composition notebooks and now I have an outlet. I have a few novels completed but I am too chicken-shit to make the effort so I regard my little tales as practice. Yeah, makes no sense. No shit.

How do you come up with ideas for stories? Bounce around the Encyclopedia of Arda and other LOTR sites. Read bios. Hallucinate before falling asleep.

What do you do to overcome writer's block? Pour a few more vinos and the words flow like acid rain.

Have you written in any other fandom? Pirates of the Carrib and I am considering doing a “Once upon a Time in Mexico” mpreg (all together now....errrghhhhh)
If yes, where can your stories be found? All over the place... I’m like pleasant pigeon shit. Mainly Yahoo sites. Email if you want more info.

Do you use music as a soundtrack for your writing?: Well I play music while I write...
If yes, what kind? Current spins: Doves, Coldplay, Ministry, Nirvana, NIN, Heaven 17, Moby, Yes, Pink Floyd, Grandaddy, Goldfrapp, Peter Murphy, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Sparklehorse, Joy Division, New Order, Love & Rockets, Fiona Apple, Portishead, Sisters of Mercy, Gavin Friday, Chemical Brothers, Moev... since I owned an indie music magazine in the 80’s I learned to like most alternative stuff. I like just about anything except cheesy country, cheesy disco, death metal, all this shitty new fake punk, bad lo-fi and opera. Hate opera to death!!

Is there a certain time of day you usually sit down to write? Unfortunately since I freelance at home anytime is play time. That’s reallllly good and bad!

Have you or would you write stories "on request" for readers? Well, I’ve written challenges and I just wrote my first round robin which was tough! It would depend on the request.

Which of your own stories do you like best? Aw hell, it’s a tie between “Never Offend The Lady” since it was my first real comedy, and “Divine Infatuation,” which was my first long A/L slash plus I adore the ending. But I like ‘em all for different reasons. I love my little written children, no matter how badly they treated me during birth.

What do you think, why the mostly female writers in slash make up stories about male/male relationships? Because the idea of pretty guys exchanging glances, sighs then going at it like bunnies on crack has always turned me on and I think many women dig that idea. Let’s face it, women are excluded from M/M sex so this where we control it, and abuse or reward the players. Now that’s power. Also with LOTR all these pretty Elves with long hair... umm, just a sucker for long hair on pretty men. Groannnn.

Do you have muses who help you with your stories? Yep. They keep me awake at night spinning new tales.
If yes, who are they? Right now my muse is this angry Jack Daniel’s drinking crack ‘ho who won’t tell me her name so I just call her The Stupid Bitch. Elrond is also vastly helpful regarding his ego. It’s the size of Mt. Everest and still growing.

What do you think is your trademark in stories and why?: A sick sense of humor that sometimes refuses to go away. Complete obsession with mpreg (love a nice round Elf). And really hot smut scenes. Male sex. More male sex. Lots of male sex. Like that male sex. However lately I am leaning toward S/M which alarms me. Probably has to do with lack of work.

What part of your writing do you think still needs improvement? As you might have noticed I can blather on forever, and sometimes that happens in my fics. That’s why I like to give myself exercises to pen one-shots that are tight and concise. Also too often love strikes like a message from above. Hell, maybe that’s not so bad, eh? (oh ho, aren’t we just the Aquarius romantic softie at heart... <snicker>)

Is there something you would never write? I’ll write bondage, torture, mpreg, rape (although rarely and I really hate it) but I will NEVER write underage fics, (which is why I can’t understand all this Harry Potter slash) bestiality (sorry, Brego and Shadowfax) or “golden showers/scatology” stuff. Eyyyuch!!! Total squicky nastiness!!!
