How did you come to fan-fiction/slash writing?
To cut a long story short, I bought an anime called Pet Shop of Horrors eons
ago. I went online looking for stuff about it after I watched it and discovered
slash (or yaoi, in the anime fandoms). I was surprised at first, but then
it seemed like the two main characters just belonged together. And it was
all downhill from there...
How do you come up with ideas for stories? Usually a random scene
just pops into my head and then I write a fic around it after I bounce ideas
off people like Alex, who can put up with me. ;)
What do you do to overcome writer's block? WRITE! Well, usually stop
writing and bemoan my fate for awhile, but seriously... The only way to overcome
it is to write through it, even if said writing starts out crappy, once I
get caught up in the plot of my story, I usually come back to myself. The
positive reviews don’t hurt, either.
Have you written in any other fandom? If yes, where can your stories be found?
Yep, I write for Pet Shop of Horrors and my stuff can be fond on
either the list I own http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/pet_shop_of_horrors_fanfiction
Or on my website, www.ratmomma.com/psoh.htm (which is being revamped at the
moment)
Do you use music as a soundtrack for your writing? If yes, what kind?
My greatest writing has come from these three CDs – October Project
(self titled), Celtic Lullaby (the Ellipsis Arts version), and A Celtic Tale:
The Legend of Deirdre (Mychael Danna & Jeff Danna, the music-only version)
Is there a certain time of day you usually sit down to write? Very
late when no one will bother me and it’s just me and the tv or my music.
Have you or would you write stories "on request" for readers? I
have not had any requests. I suppose it would depend on what the requst was.
If I liked it and thought I could make a story out of it, then I would. If
I didn’t think I could turn it into something readable, I’d refer
them to an author (or list) who might better fulfill their wishes.
Which of your own stories do you like best? Gah....THAT’S a
hard question.... Honestly, I don’t usually like my stories. However
I do have an attatchment to Sachihoko, which was the first fic I ever wrote.
It’s in the PSOH fandom.
What do you think, why the mostly female writers in slash make up stories
about male/male relationships? One naked man is sexy but two are
sexier? ;) I think there’s something delishiously erotic about writing
male/male. I think it may give the female author a greater sense of freedom
and control over the story. And of course you don’t get jealous when
writing about two men. But of course I still think Galadriel is too sexy for
words...
Do you have muses who help you with your stories? If yes, who are they?
My muse hasn’t named herself yet, but she’s evil. She puts ideas
in my head that won’t go away and sometimes takes away my ability to
write while torturing me with bunnies.
What do you think is your trademark in stories and why? Angst and
hurt/comfort. If it’s written by me you can pretty much count on either
angst or someone getting the tar beaten out of them. I have always loved h/c,
and everyone out there who writes it makes me a very happy person. ;) It just
gets me all kinds of fluttery inside.
What part of your writing do you think still needs improvement? I
think all aspects of my writing can improve. I don’t think you ever
stop improving your writing, it’s something that grows along with you
as you try different things. Personally, I would like to be able to cut down
on my long-windedness. It is a great challenge for me to write a short fic,
and most of my fics turn into sagas. If I have it around too long, though,
I’ll get bored with it and it will be impossible to finish.
Is there something you would never write? Chanslash
(underage) and I don’t write RPS. I do however read RPS sometimes and
my current fav is Alex’s Lean on Me. Yum.
