How did you come to fan-fiction writing? Non-LotR: I was going around the net and found Sailor Moon fics (I was twelve, cut me some slack). After wising and growing up, I moved on to LotR and can’t seem to leave. LotR: I found the Mithril Awards and some fics, “Arwen, Queen of Really Bad Timing” and “Very Secret Diaries” stood out the most, so I thought, “Maybe I can write this.” My first attempt was “Nightingales and Leaves”, when I was still naive enough to try to write Leggy as het. I tried too hard. So I moved on to the slashier side of things, and I’ve written an entire universe around it.
How do you come up with ideas for stories? Well, mostly from reading other stories, though a lot of the time I’ll be writing one of my own and I’ll start a plot line and… never follow through, so I have to go and write a sequel. Or I’ll just become caught up in the verse I created and can’t leave it.
What do you do to overcome writer's block? Stop writing on that one and start another.
Have you written in any other fandom? If yes, where can your stories be found? Yes, I did MSTs for DragonBall Z and Tenchi Muyo. They can be found on gokugirl.com and tmffa.com (e-mail me if you’re wondering what a MST is) They are under the name Angewomon (again, I was twelve when I picked that name)
Do you use music as a soundtrack for your writing? Yeah, sorta. If yes, what kind? I usually listen to Celtic music and American Idiot by Green Day. I’ve tried the LotR soundtracks, but I’ve found they inhibit me. One song that struck me was “The Briar and the Rose”, a Celtic song, which is now in the process of being put into one of my stories. I heard it and thought: “Ari and Leggy!”
Is there a certain time of day you usually sit down to write? I do some of my best stuff at three in the morning, but while I was still in high school I would write during class after I finished my work. Now I just wake up and turn on the computer.
Have you or would you write stories "on request" for readers? Yeah, sure, why not? Depends on what they want, though.
Which of your own stories do you like best? There’s a scene in “Mine and Mine Alone” that I really like, but my very favorite right now is “The Most Wonderful Surprise”, which I am seriously looking for a new title on.
Do you have muses who help you with your stories? Yes, and they won’t leave me alone! ^_^ If yes, who are they? Aragorn, Legolas, Glorfindel (not quite sure why he’s there), the Twins, and Vegita from DragonBall Z. Aragorn and Legolas get their teeth into stuff and beat me senseless with it until I write it, I think Glorfinny is there to remind me not to short-change the minor characters like Pete did, and Vegita is my sense of restraint. I don’t listen to him very often. The Twins are so I can have something pretty to look at when I get to a choke point.
What do you think is your trademark in stories and why? Lots of fluff. I just feel more comfortable with fluff. I also do a lot of angst, so I tend to go to the extremes. Either the relationship is good, or something awful has happened, like a character death or alcoholism. The reason, I think, is it can be therapeutic.
What part of your writing do you think still needs improvement? My description. I’m more dialogue then description, so I have to act out just about everything I can to get the right thing. That’s why the sex scenes are still lacking a bit.
Is there something you would never write? I try not to say that I’ll never write something, cause I said the only LotR slash I’d ever do would be Frodo and Sam, then I moved on to Ari and Leggy. Never did write any Frodo/Sam. I said I’d never do an mpreg, then Leggy had twins. I said no Elladan and Elrohir, now they’re one of my favorite pairs. If pressed, though, I would say no parent/child incest (molestation is another thing, however) underage sex (What *is* underage in LotR, anyway?), and no Merry and Pippin. Or Boromir and anyone. Or Elrond and anyone. Oh, and RPFs. I’d be too worried about suits for slander and libel.
